    Nightly Show ratings are plummetting...
    There is hope after all....

Has Comedy Central's late-night talk lineup lost some of its intellectualism since the departures of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert? Yes, according to quite a few viewers on Reddit, and they can tell you the exact moment they noticed the change.

I loved Wilmore on the Daily Show, and I was looking forward to see what he could bring to the table. Instead, he landed right into the worst examples of all the super-lefty late-night news shows. They don't even make a secret about it anymore. Wilmore, Oliver, and to a lesser degree Noah have sharp leftist agendas, stack their audiences accordingly, and that's what you get to watch.

The article talks about how the tipping point was being dismissive on Bill Nye, a guy liberals generally like a lot, but it brought to light exactly what this guy does every day.

    - Everyone on his usual panel pool is a discount comedian, or a black/latina lady that is usually pretty smart, but crazy biased on everything.

    - Opposing views are NOT welcome at all. The article talked about ambushing, and that's exactly what they do. if you say one thing disparaging about a minority, or positive about a gun, even if it's a fact backed up by stats, Mike Yard will jump on you immediately, the audience will pile on, and it's 1 on 1000. The only viewers the show has left are young superlibs with little to no life experience, so you're really wasting your time saying anything here.

    - Wilmore even said he wanted his show to be focused mostly on race. One topic? It was hot at the time, and still is, but it goes to show that people just get sick one talking about one thing after awhile (okay, 2 things, race and politics), no matter how much of a hot-button topic it can be.

Viewership when the show first aired dropped by about 25%, which is common, but has now dropped to less than half.

    * NOTE: all the anti-black super-racists, please stay out of this thread. We already know what you think, and you don't bring anything to the table anymore.

My point is that it's all become so one-sided that it's also become nauseating. I can't watch Fox News either. There's no longer a middle ground for people who can actually think objectively anymore. Stewart and Colbert faded to the left, but they were (sadly) about as close to the middle as it got for awhile. Comedy Central made sure it never went to far to one side. Now they clearly don't care as long as somebody watches it. It's already backfiring.

The more we try to fix racism the worse it gets, eh? Maybe we should just listen to Morgan Freeman

Regarding the show. .. it just occurred to me that I haven't watched the daily show in a long time

I miss Stewart and Colbert. Colbert's late show isn't as good as the Colbert Report.

          agree

          they aren't funny
          too much democratic agenda

at least Stewart could chill out(on the democrat agenda) long enough to be funny

Agree with above poster. Hillary and Trump provide an incredible amount of material to tear apart in late night comedy.

I liked Stewart once upon a time but he fell off the deep end and the last few years of watching a ~50 year old man try to use college humor and college sarcasm was a bit off-putting to me for some reason. I thought the replacement was there to add to the legend of Stewart because the replacement was just that bad, that it made Stewart look like a genius.

The problem with comedy these days is if you say something that rips into republicans, whites, conservatives, males then the audience is allowed to laugh .... if you say something that rips into democrats, nonwhites, progressive leftists or females then the audience is only allowed to get offended. There is a huge double standard in comedy that has existed for a long time. Part of that is that comedy, as well as most of the arts, has been dominated by left thinkers. Most funny guys on the right are more apt to think pragmatically about the risk-reward and probable success of a career in comedy and then go ahead and learn to be an accountant. The funny guy on the left is more apt to smoke weed all day, play video games, watch tv and then go to the comedy club and do a set and pray he gets discovered.

Too late to watch. Economy is going great. People go to bed early.

It's always funny until they are talking about you.

if this guy is part of the "clowncar", I want on-board!

I am sure we (he and I) do not agree on everything,

I am also sure there is a very good chance that he is a gentleman.

In the "clown-car" there is scotch-whiskey, all night long...

                      call me...
