My wife goes in a dark bathroom and sits down on a bacteria riddled toilet without even looking, hey, that is on her and not me!

They say it is common courtesy/chivalry. But, when Women are clamoring for equality, she could put the seat up, just out of common courtesy.

Personally, I turn on the light and the fan, do a really brief check, and then conduct business. I will put the seat and lid down just because of bacteria. I've never heard of a woman dumping on a lid, no less the seat.

I read on the BBC that 48% of British, married couples, argue over the seat. Really?

Do you leave the seat up when you dump? Since you both use the toilet with the seat down, that should be the normal position. I doubt that your wife ever uses the toilet with the seat up. And it's just damn polite, respectful and thoughtful (unless you don't like your wife, then leave the seat up).
