Everytime I hear an adult use the word "pop" in reference to a soft drink I can't help but imagine a little kid asking some old man behind the counter, "Can I a sodie pop, mister?"

Soda is poison to the body fellas sorry to blow up this party thread... If you must drink soda drinks then drink the clear ones so your kidneys don't have to work over time to clear the coloring in dark sodas....
Don't drink it at night as it's like a cup of sugar going right to your gut when you sleep.. You can burn it off during the day but not in your sleep..
Couldn't pay me to drink soda today..
I'm water guy now, maybe with lemon at times for flavor.. I drink coconut water and or tea and coffee for pleasure.... I feel sorry for people that drink soda, it's just so bad for you. Not as bad as cigerettes but close IMO..

What's the general name for it then?.. I'm going to 7/11 to get a ?????..
A coke, pepsi or sprite is probably usually the answer for most... I think most call soda by the actual name of the soda they drink.. Pop is old school.. Can't argue that.

Nope. Carbonated water, fruit, and other natural flavors. That last part can mean a few different things, but if it's aspertame, they have to put it on there.

The only time I really enjoy a soda is with pizza. If I'm eating anything else I'm fine without it.

Brew a nice tea, and serve it cold.
Can use whatever tea flavors you wish, great healthy alternative to pop.

i suggest you quit drinking this "pop".... whatever the hell that is, and try about six Vegas bombs.... I had five or six of them last night, along with 8 24 oz dos equis on draft.....
I feel like shit this morning..... but a good way to celebrate a successful mediation of a hotly contested divorce....
oh, and this Vegas Bomb I speak of?
chilled shot consisting of crown, malibu rum, peach schapps and red bull (and yes, I know some replace the malibu and peach with butterscotch schnapps).... but the big tittied bar keep serving me and my client made hers the former way.....
pretty good tasting shot, went down easy.... next day "wooly factor"? about a seven on a scale of 1-10....

I guess I might consider a root beer float today with vanilla ice cream if I was craving a dessert.... Seriously though I haven't drank a soft drink in probably 10 years or more.. If I did it was probably a Hansens soda too.. I remember being hooked on diet cokes in my 20's though.....

i could not imagine adding a "floater" like this to anything.....
well, maybe to waves' mailbox....
or I might put it in a brown paper bag, set it on seeweed's door step, light it on fire, ring the doorbell and run like hell.....

"I'm going to 7/11 to get a [insert what ever I plan on getting here]."
I refer to it by it's name. If I want a Pepsi, I say Pepsi, if I want a Cherry Coke, I say Cherry Coke.
Everyone from my hometown (Louisville) uses "coke" as a generic word (I just call it by it's name). My wife refers to it as "soda" (she is from Illinois, right outside of Champaign) which I view as decently acceptable. Pop just sounds stupid, like a child.
Here is a much more detailed map of pop vs soda vs coke, it breaks it down by county:
A page that maps the geographic distribution of the terms "pop" and "soda" when used to describe carbonated beverages
