    The Death of the West
The Death of the West: How Dying Populations and Immigrant Invasions Imperil Our Country and Civilization by Patrick Buchanan

The national bestseller that shocked the nation--The Death of the West is an unflinching look at the increasing decline in Western culture and power.

"The West is dying. Collapsing birth rates in Europe and the U. S., coupled with population explosions in Africa, Asia and Latin America are set to cause cataclysmic shifts in world power, as unchecked immigration swamps and polarizes every Western society and nation.

The Death of the West details how a civilization, culture, and moral order are passing away and foresees a new world order that has terrifying implications for our freedom, our faith, and the preeminence of American democracy.

The Death of the West is a timely, provocative study that asks the question that quietly troubles millions: Is the America we grew up in gone forever?"

See it in my town and hood daily. 5 billion people have been added to this earth since my birth. I may not be alive
to see it, but America as we know it is going down. It's going to splinter into separate countries. The rich countries
will have walls with a certain race of people and defended heavily by death. Poor countries will be every man for
himself stealing from one another and killing each other off. What we see today is only a prelude.

You'd think we as a society in the 21st century, our world would get better, but as history has shown, we are a violent species and history always repeats itself.

What is happening is taking place by design. The Oligarchs hate America and the freedoms (what are left) it represents. Hence the balkanization of the country. Divide and conquer.

Thankfully I won't be around to experience what the future holds for this nation. It isn't going to be pleasant.

Did you know that the Bush crime syndicate purchased 900,000 acres of land in Paraguay?

Do you think they know something we peasants don't?

To be fair, the Bushes made their money in oil. Paraguay might be oil rich.

I think it is important to analyze not only the decline of the Western world but the factors that allowed them to be so politically and culturally dominant for so many years.

American hegemony came at the expense of other Western Nations decimated by the second world war.

Natty gas, timber and huge water resources. A good investment either way.

Youre correct Mo, Id imagine el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz would describe it as a matter of the chickens coming home to roost. Old folks would say what goes around comes around and kids today call it karma.

                    Yes I would agree.

I think there is a lot of discourse, especially within the political realm over the last 5 years, about making America great again, returning it to the heights it achieved during the 50s and 60s. What many do not understand is that the anomaly is not the decline in American power rather it is the fact they ever achieved such a level of power that is anomalistic.

It really exemplifies the attitudes of many Americans that America is the greatest country on the planet by default. The United States is a product of its opportunism and a rare combination of circumstances that allowed for the American economy not only to flourish but also to dictate the terms for both recovering economies and the emerging markets.

It is not a coincidence that America's relative economic power has mirrored the rise and fall of Bretton Woods.

Exactly, well said. Very rare circumstances and cunningly so done. Why should I keep Liberty's dollars so I can buy oil Mo there are others who will accept my money for their oil. When do you think the scheme will entirely go up in flames and what effect do you think it will have on Canada.

Well we are so deeply entrenched in the system despite an attempt to distance ourselves from its dependence on American prosperity. The interconnectivity of the planet's large economies makes it almost impossible for the system collapse, or more accurately for us to allow the system to collapse. I think the decline in American economic power is more a normalization than anything. To borrow from IR theory, the balancing of economic and political power occurs when one nation becomes too dominant. Other states attempt to work together to balance the power of the hegemon.

As far as the effect on Canada, the private sector has long been hedging its bets in an attempt to mitigate the potential effects of a decline in American prosperity. The importance of the East Asian and other emerging markets has long been apparent to Canadian financial institutions. While it will undoubtedly hold a tremendous effect on Canada, we have been increasingly trying to diversify our trade with other nations and have seen the United States become less important, trade wise, to economic prosperity. While total diversification is illogical and impossible given the amount of our trade that is with the United States, I think there is an attitude that we must insulate the economy from American decline.

I do not think that America will be replaced as the hegemonic state. I think we will see a departure from the unipolar and bipolar international system that dominated the 20th century and a return to the multipolar system that dominated the 17th to end of the 19th century. Economically it will mean an improvement for many and a decline for others; a massive normalization in economic power.

The problems with a multipolar international system are less economic than they are conflict based; they have proven much less stable and much more prone to war than systems in which there are one or two dominant states. There were countless wars fought during the 1800s when there were a large number of states or empires all attempting to bolster their power while limiting the power of the other great powers. I fear a return to a familiar system though with new players.

Too true. Unless it's a home made YouTube video with a guy in a cheap suit infront of a green screen with 80's graphics and conspiracy coming out of his mouth, I've above all that too.
