Unreal... gas prices have been coming down like gangbusters. Have no clue why it's going down near a Holiday?

Also... usually with war going on... they always have an explanation on why it's HIGH!!! But not this year. Any idea why it's so low?

    I'm near the Detroit area.

I saw 2.49 the other day which is nice because I never thought we'd see 3 bucks again when we hit 4 a few years back. Yahoo article says we could see gas below 2 bucks bad for my oil rig buddies.

Wow I just noticed you had 1.55 in the title that's crazy. If you had a Prius your gas bill would be like 60$ a month maybe not even that high @ 1.55 a gallon.

What Octane is your premium fuel? I was talking to a friend in Hungary and we had determined that his fuel cost was just under $6 USD per gallon(3.75 Liters), but then he told me it was 98 Octane.

2.07 today which is about a dollar cheaper than this time last year. Gulf drilling & fracking would be my guess.

              Super has 95 Octane.
E10 (which is Super with a 5-10% Bio-Ethanol share in it) 95 as well. Fuel consumption is 1-3% higher with E10, however E10 is 2 cents cheaper than Super. Doesn't make a difference really.
My new car is a Diesel, Diesel is at 1.09€ right now, was 1.04 last week. I think last time prices were this low was 2009. Last year Super f.e. was ~1.60€ per liter.
You can buy Super Plus as well though, with 98 Octane, however it is way more expensive.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest player in OPEC and flooded the market with oil to counter domestic US production - and they did a decent job of cooling the fracking boom.

So the glut was planned - but planned poorly, because the Saudis are having real problems because they did not foresee or prepare for the scenario with a huge drop in demand from the Chinese, a huge customer. And that's precisely what happened, so now Saudi is struggling to make payments on loans made to carry them through this slump - revenue is off and oil is barely over $40 a barrel. While they are ******, they're not half as ****** as minor-oil producer Venezuela, whose reliance on sky-high oil prices left them with a country that can't feed itself with oil at these levels. Pity.

tax to help with our crumbling roads and bridges which I hear is the worst in the nation. I Don't mind paying
a little to help with the roads, but as with any tax, it never goes away.
Good point. I don't remember if Michigan lifted the tax or not? I believe it's around $0.25 - $0.30 (per gallon) extra for the tax. Then Michigan wanted to do ANOTHER TAX for the roads... because they are sh#$ here to. But, when the gas prices were high... I believe our Michigan government cancelled the Bill for the SECOND TAX. But who really knows? All I know is that when gas prices are under $2.00 here... I'm happy as fuk.

I never understood why the government doesn't understand this economically? When gas prices are low... extremely low.. you're going to go out and buy more things. Maybe even a new car? Every purchase has to help the economy right?

I mean think about it for a few.... If you were paying $3.30 a gallon.... and now you're paying around $2.20 a gallon... you're saving nearly 30-33% off your regular travel expenses from point A to point B. That helps BIG TIME! I could step in sh#$ right now... and I'd still smile.
