I had a buddy in high school that used to be the Chargers team doctor. I didn't know until years later that he had an addiction to pills and botched many surgeries including operating on the wrong leg of another former classmate.

this is why I hate Doctors. You can't trust any of them.

If a doctor ever recommends surgery to any of you.... PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET A SECOND AND 3rd OPINION!

Especially those dermatologist/plastic surgeons.

If you "can't trust any of them" ... what is the purpose of 2nd and 3rd opinions?

just b/c you can't trust them doesn't mean that they are all bad.

i'm just saying that so many doctors only care about money and they don't give a shit about your health so I would take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I've been in medicine for coming up on two decades and I absolutely agree with Big Bear and Donkers

Do as much homework as you can up front and let others be part of the learning curve.

Thankfully, I get to solicit opinions of other doctors and nurses of who the best doctor is for a given specialty. I get the concensus and go from there.

I once partied with a spine surgeon who was pretty well known in LA. They guy had a house infested with fleas and snorted so much cocaine it was uncomfortable for me to be around. This dude operates on your spine. Disturbing to say the least.

Agreed, the medical system isn't what it used to be. It's not just the doctors, seems every back office I deal with fuks up. Constantly.

I'm heading for radio frequency treatments on the nerves of the joints in my neck. It's taken months to even get it going.

They are going to zap the nerves to interrupt pain signals from my neck. I'm looking forward to relief, but the shots are going to suck.

Spine surgeons make serious coin. Hire a penetrating maid.

I've worked with a few heart surgeons that fukked around with uppers and downers, blow, oxy, adderall, you name it. One was probably the best surgeon I'd ever seen.

One of my most memorable stories was about 6-7 years ago, A young woman comes to the ER and was lucky to be alive but needed emergent heart surgery or she would've died. The doc comes in and goes to talk the family. After he leaves, they ask me to call another surgeon please because he couldn't stay awake. It was probably 1am. They said he literally fell asleep 2-3 times while talking to them.

Short of it, OR comes to get her, family is crying, i walk back with them and there's the doctor WIDE penetrating AWAKE, wide eyed and bushy tailed.

Girl not only survived but did extremely well. I found out the next night it was a 9 hour surgery. She went home a week later and is doing well still to this day (mutual FB friends)

It's insane what these guys can do, how good they can be all hopped up. If I needed a surgeon, I'd pick him every time, even knowing there's a 50/50 chance he's on something.

He also doesn't have fleas in his house. Thats a deal breaker for me. I dont want a flea in my spine. Or my heart
