I would change the rims a bit....spokes cluttery and not clean. Pearl White is A minus at times and A plus at other times. All black looks good if you treat it right and especially at night. Damn wish I had tailed LT

New cars always look sharp. Unless you get an amazing blockbuster deal on a trade, or lease/buy... I wouldn't budge. Back in the Summer of 2008... This sales rep for GM gave me an offer I couldn't refuse... Threw in a lot a different things... but mostly... He knocked off 10k from the sticker... gave me 0% interest 72 months and no money down. He gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. So I bought it.
It was a New 2008 Suburban Z71.
I probably will never see a deal like that ever again. I probably didn't even need the damn thing... but it sounded crazy good.

Caddy has to be the most pathetic luxury car of any manufacturer these days.
Much prefer this to current model. At a higher price.
Now that's a PROPER YANK TANK!
CTS is like a lame version of a poor Japanese attempt to build a German car. yuck!

Do you like any American cars?
Thoughts on Chevy/ General Motors? do they make anything you like?
Thoughts on Ford?
In your opinion what is the best car brand? Audi? BMW? Jaguar? Mercedes? Lexus?

There is no best brand bayer.
Different companies make some fantastic cars.
With that being said, I have never had more fun than in small BMWs. The 2 & 4 series (formerly 1&3) are fantastic, especially if you can get the faster versions.
Porsche also makes some incredible machines. I drove an Audi A4 a number of years back and found it to be sterile and pedestrian. Lacking in the things that make a lot of german cars so great.
What do you drive Bear?

I like the American car I posted a pic of.
And I'm a Ford man in general. But can't think of a current American car I love. could live with a Roush Mustang I guess
German cars are best, but a bit boring mostly.

No Mo. Driven quite a few older ones, up to about 2005 but not a new one. Probably is a bit boat like compared to an M3 or a GTR but I can live with that. Feels like a 'mans car' behind the wheel I think.
Ford dropped production of our local rear wheel drive car the Falcon so we are getting the Mustang instead from next year. Hasn't been officially exported to down here in Australia since the 60s.
I do like the 2015 model looks a lot better than the Camaro. Charger is pretty good looking as well I think.
American cars all used to have character and style. And be bigger than Texas!
When I was a kid my father had this football field length pearl white pillar-less Dodge Phoenix 2 door that I thought was the coolest ride I had ever seen.
American cars used to be uniquely American. Now we get stuff like this CTS which seriously does seem more like a Lexus or Infinity copy than anything like American style to me.

Ah yes the Ford Falcon. That is a shame that they are doing away with it. To the best of my knowledge, Fold Australia has operated largely independent of Ford USA for a long time now. I think the cars share some basic components / platforms but I am not really sure. The coolest thing Holden made in recent memory did make it to the US though; the Monaro HSV GTO which I think ended up being rebadged a pontiac and sold in the US as the Pontiac GTO. Apparently a very cool car.
The Holden / Ford / Bathurst 1000 rivalry has always intrigued me. If I was ever to make the trip to Australia I would want to go to the 1000 as I absolutely love V8 supercars. The old Ford Racing liveries they ran in that series were awesome, as were the monsters beneath them.
Pillarless is the way to go. I am a little too young to be familiar with the Dodge Phoenix. I see that it was sold in NA as the Dodge Dart which is sad because the modern Dart is a terrible car.

If you ever make it let's do Bathurst! It's like an annual gear head pilgrimage down here.
And yes, Falcon was uniquely Australian since the 1960s and a bit of a pride thing for such a small country to have two of our own cars (GM Commodore the other). I've gotten over it now but was genuinely sad when announced.
The current Chevy SS is based on the same Commodore base as the GTO. That's the last all Aussie GM car too.

I have always wanted to go. Making it happens is different story lol. My true dream would be to drive it (the Mt. Panorama course) as I know every corner from simulations.
Unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen as, to the best of my knowledge, it is public roads and is only ever closed off for the 1000 (correct me if I am wrong.)
And I feel you man. I also get sad about car related issues. Hearing that they have cancelled / stopped producing certain cars, thereby guaranteeing that I will never own one breaks my heart.
That's unfortunate that the all Aussie cars appear to be on the way out. I would attribute this to the increase of platform sharing and that I guess the shipping to Australia is no longer more expensive than the cost of independent platform development. Badge engineering is annoying but also means you can get some cool cars you may not otherwise have had access to. I know Australia is often an afterthought market to many manufacturers so it was cool that they sorta just said: "Fine, we will make our own cool cars."
You never know whether they will resurrect the idea of the all Aussie produced car. One thing about the Auto-Industry and how often certain marques change hands is that nothing is permanent, hence why Alfa Romeo is coming back to North America, something I am incredibly excited about

Yeah, platform sharing is the reason. Plus like everyone else Australians have moved to smaller cars and the Falcon and Commodore were no longer the biggest sellers. Which they needed to be to survive really.
Bathurst is a public road, so you can drive it any time you like. At 35mph. Which is bloody hard to stick to but the cops are there all the time. Every time I have done it I have seen them. Maybe 5 times. It's outside a country town and is pretty quiet apart from car heads doing laps.

So sad. From what I can remember the they can get up to 330-350km/h / 200+ MPH on that back straight. One of the most insane tracks in the world. Watching the pros drive it is a breath taking experience.
If I were a cop I would probably just post up at the dipper and wait for someone to rip through it or crash trying.

LOL... it's funny you say that.
One time may years ago I was there in a V8 commodore with the wife and kids in the back. We went around once and didn't see any cops so I decided to do it again a bit faster. maybe 60-70mph up the hill and over the top but there is almost no way you can drive a family car down the mountain at much more than 35. The corners are mind blowingly tight after seeing cars racing through them.
I came through the dipper at about 35 with tires squealing as i tried to stay on the correct side of the road and was just about to tramp on it through the elbow and down Conrod straight when a highway patrol car appears over the rise coming the other way. A few seconds earlier and I would have been on it hard as they appeared. still expected them to pull me up as the car must have looked like it was going too fast out of the dipper but got lucky, and have never tried it over the limit since.
I've read that the cops issue an insane amount of fines per year there. And speeding fines down here are big compared to you guys.

That's awesome. Lucky though. Do they keep the walls up when the track is not formerly in use? I would imagine you could easily total the car in a number of places if you were not careful. The dipper and the next really hard left that leads into Conrod.
The number of time I have virtually crashed there and ruined a great lap.
How much are your fines? In Canada they are pretty bad, or at least in Ontario
50km/h over and your car is impounded and license suspended for 30 days.
If they deem you are racing or stunt driving while doing 50+ over it is a potential $10,000 fine and two year license suspension.
