These type of sit down chains like TGIF & Applebee's are hurting. People are more apt to hit up a cheaper real bar or a good local restaurant. One thing that watching Restaurant Impossible has taught me is that you have to keep up with your food costs. Groups of 300lb women & professional gamblers pounding endless cheese sticks is a good way to let costs run out of control.

The franchise type locations use to be able to compete because of being the best bang for buck in town but now with the move to 'fresh food' from Chipotle down to the local bistro as you said, getting too expensive to run the local Chilis with the shittty 700 calorie salads and such.

Malls and chain restaurants are both quickly becoming dinosaurs. Sign of the time.

TGIF's seems to be a place for the yuppie type here. The all you can eat is actually genius, it's a ripoff.

My daughters softball team all decided to go there last week. I think only 2 of the adults actually ate. It looked absolutely horrible.

I used to eat there a lot during college. I sure didn't remember it being so disgusting.
