So you don't think that was an error? Rios or Odor shouldn't have easily caught that ball?

WTF are u talking about? That Rios gaffe was clearly and error, in any ballpark with any scorer in the league past or present.

I don't think drinker understands that a no hitter is still intact on an error.

Now the no-hitter is gone, drinker.

A lot of guys who don't really understand baseball make the same mistake you made, pal. No reason to be embarrassed.

In drinkers defense, he does know a lot about golf.

Also, you can't expect someone from a state without a MLB team to really understand the intricacies of the game.

No harm done here, drinker. It's all a journey, pal.

I can't blame Drinker for getting fired up tonight. Have you seen Reynolds and Mitch Williams going at it on MLB Network?

I've only been home long enough to catch a couple of segments, but both guys are taking this argument like serious business. Still hard to believe that they really are this passionate about this shit, but they have played/been around the game for basically their entire lives.

a lot of things have been a certain way forever, and I won't get into specifics because who cares, but many of those things don't work. I agree it in all sense that's an error amongst the fielders. But why change it for one case. It will have to take a calamity of errors like this to overturn this kind of ruling. Baseball's a game of slow progress as evidenced by the implementation of replay for a select type of calls. Don't overwork the system. It'll come eventually no doubt. But as it stands from a commonality stand point, that's a hit. Kinda glad he lost his no-no eventually.

The misplayed fly ball is one that happens all over the league throughout any season. Nearly each time it occurs, the play is scored a hit and nothing more is thought of it. On Friday, as Darvish was flirting with his no-hitter, the play was scored an error as the official scorer acted in accordance to Rule 10.12(a)(1) which states that, "The official scorer shall charge an outfielder with an error if such outfielder allows a fly ball to drop to the ground if, in the official scorer's judgment, an outfielder at that position making ordinary effort would have caught such fly ball." It was reported during the game the official scorer judged that the out would have been made with an ordinary effort and it was also reported that the Elias Sports Bureau backed the decision made by the official scorer.

By rule the benefit goes to the hitter it should have been ruled a hit according to rule. Common sense says error though
