When did people stop saying Merry Christmas?

People around this time of the year used to say "Merry Christmas" to each other as a common departure. See you later Bob, Merry Christmas! You would hear it on TV, schools, businesses, jobs, on the street, among friends.

Now it isn't very PC to say Merry Christmas. 3% of Americans are Jews and most Jews aren't very religious anyway. Probably 50,000 Africans celebrate Kwanzaa. Not African Americans, Africans. I know Muslims that exchange gifts and celebrate Christmas. Not in a religious sense but they know that Christmas is American just like Thanksgiving or the 4th of July.

So probably 90% of people in this country celebrate Christmas and the other 10% know what the deal is but god forbid somebody says Merry Christmas. It's all HAPPY HOLIDAYS! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Yeah 90% of people celebrate Christmas but 1% celebrate Chanukah or Kwanzaa and everybody has to bend over backwards to not offend them.

Ya I worked retail a few years ago and was mandatory to say "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas so we dont offend anyone. I just told everyone "have a good one" so I don't offend anyone at all including the aethist

That said, you getting upset that someone says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas is no different. If you really wanted to get into it, people way back in the day that got their pagan holiday ran over when the Christian church moved Baby Jesus' birth to their day have a much more legitimate gripe.

Just let people be them, if they want to say Happy Holidays - let them. It encompasses Christmas and all the other holidays being celebrated this time of year.
