I guess if you are running out of time on offense, just kick the ball into the stands, the refs will take care of the rest.

Seem like we've seen a lot of unprofessional football execution lately, but the refs always get the result we want, the result they planned for pregame...

Smart move by veteran QB Alex Smith...however, the FG unit was ready to take the field regardless of what happened...so either way, Hopkins would have gotten the kick off and skins still win the game...gotta love bitter Squealer fans who cry foul about play like that but don't mention the horrendous officiating (on both teams) throughout the game...like the 4th down conversion where TE Logan Thomas CLEARLY stretched out at least a yard past the marker and they still marked him a half yard short and gave Pitt the ball in excellent field position...also way too many ticky-tack, nitpicking, calls on holding, PI, etc. that are ruining the game of football...the NFL needs to get those replacement refs back pronto!...everyone constantly bashed them but hell they ain't no worse than these incompetent nincompoops!

That's not what happened though. They didn't get it off in time. We're not talking about horrendous officiating here, and refs missing calls. That stuff, Manster, does not affect the outcome of the game any more than offensive and defensive execution. There is no such thing as "horrendous officiating" in the NFL. There are three teams on the field, and together they are there to do one job.

What we're talking about here is Washington fukking up, they failed at their job (one that, buy the way, is made up of specialists with just one job) and the refs making it their own administrative error to add time to help them. This will hurt Washington in the long haul, especially if they can't be trusted to kick an end of half field goal. There is nothing more important in the NFL than being able to execute an end of half FG 1st, 2nd, or OT).

If the kicker had missed the FG, do you know what would have happened next?

I do, with 100% first hand knowledge certainty. I don't have to guess.

But do you realize the ramifications of what the refs did there? There should be a ton with precedent set, but obviously there will be none. There is no such thing as precedence in NFL officiating...lol.

They make it up as they go and the people just accept it, no matter how brazen and obvious it has become.

Dammmit, I'm on vacation, and my son is on lunch hour. Game on.
