Over 140

The sharp, stacking forecast has Arizona State beating Syracuse 77-70. The public gauge has Syracuse winning 74-72.

The line opened early as a pick and has shifted toward the forecast to Zona State -2. There is not much to say about this game. While it’s the highlight of tonight, it’s not a very sexy betting game. Last night was the take for these first 4 games and it is fortunate some of us were on that one.

Those forecasters and similar decision makers sniffing out St. Bonnies last night will likely be a bit emboldened tonight. Based on my information, I think the line movement is less about the spread and more about pressure on the Zona State moneyline. Prices on both the small spread and moneyline for ASU pressed significantly higher before the line ticked further upward. Once the public was offered a couple of points for Syracuse, they began to bite.

With the current situation, I don’t think we see much more movement on the spread with 1.5 seeming like a good settling spot.

In my opinion the Total opened a bit low at 142.5. It initially ticked towards the numbers to 143.5 but then tanked, trading below 140 in some houses. I countered this move and picked up OVER 140 (-105) for Zona St. versus Syracuse.

In terms of how it’s played, it sure seems like it should be Arizona State tonight but the money does indicate a tough issue to settle, which indicates a close game. The back and forth of a close ending could bode well for the OVER, but for now I’m passing on Zona St. -1.5 or to win as I don’t want to be a part of the letdown. I see no particular reason to take Syracuse (which in itself can be a reason).

Because of the conferences involved, I included only two of the first four games of the tourney this week. I intend to track the stacking forecast performance as well as trades around the forecast for the rest of the NCAA Tourney games. From here on, I’ll go ahead and make those trades in bold. So far it’s St. Bonnies +3 (-105) and tonight’s Over 140. I’m not sure how much will get written for each game but I will post the forecasts at the very least.

It's tough one. I'm not sure about Syracuse, but something just stinks about this line for Zona St. so Gold could definitely be on to something.
