but don't want to leave the comfort of apartment/condominium/hotel in order to get

It's not totally passive, you're going to have to learn what sells and keep it stocked, but the more locations the better.
Try to get into workplace breakrooms. Call centers and places that higher part time but in bulk tend to have quite a lot of vending machine business.
I had a friend in Los Angeles that went around to bars, restaurants, convenience stores, and collected his quarters from video game machines. He made a good chunk a change for sure.
He would have to maintain them as well, when they did break down.

Truthfully, I'd probably smoke a lot less if I didn't have some neck issues. I've done a good job of narrowing down the effective medicine, especially CBD oil, and try to smoke less.
August 16th is a big day. I will have radio frequency treatment done on the left side of my neck at 5 levels. Then two weeks later get the lower level on the right side. To do them at the same time would require me to be put on a ventilator, and don't nobody want to go that route.
The treatment is to burn the nerves coming out of root nerve, real close to the bone. It stops the pain, and that's important.
If it all works well I should have a very productive second half of the year and into next year and you'll probably see a lot more optimistic posts from me.
I'll also smoke less.
This video says "stun" the nerve. But in actuality it's being burned. Mine seem to grow back in about 6 months but some levels are being done for a third time, so maybe at one point it won't grow back at all.
