#38891Don't need to look that one up...easy. LOW heat (don't let that bitch get over 220-may only use one burner)... put butt on top rack, get you a drip pan (tin pie pan) (fill with water) and set directly underneath the butt. Soak some wood chips for 30 min, put in tin foil pocket and punch some holes and throw on the grill. Smoke one hour per pound- 7 pd butt = 7 hrs at 200-220 and around 4-5 set of wood chips. Wrap but in tin foil for first 3 hours, unwrapped for 3 hours and last hr wrapped. Important get the butt to at least 195 degrees far to shred or else you will be slicing it..Comment -

#38898Can't way too see the pics! Not idea but can work, I've accomplished a couple of times. Difficult part is maintaining the temp (low and slow effect). Too hot will dry it out. It would be wise to replicate an indirect heat source (like a smoker)...one burner going... drip pan and butt on the opposite side. And as I'm sure you know...put a good rub on it and baste it (not in foil stage) with apple juice or beer!
Also a easier method would be to roast in the oven at 225 for 3/4 of the time, then finish on the grill where you would smoke it with the foil packs. I use a mixture of apple and hickory. Finally make sure you have enough propane to last the cook time of the butt (1hr per lb cook time).Comment -
