Oklahoma City tornado-- no walls standing at elementary school
Set your politics aside for a second.

    This is horrible.

They are digging for survivors at an elementary school.

Winds may have topped 200 mph.

    Horrifying.

Someone posted on my FB, via his father who is in OKC, that all the kids are accounted for.

Not sure if that is true, but we sure can hope so.

The name of the elementary school is Plaza Towers.

The WTC is reporting that as many as 25 kids are buried underneath the rubble.

It is no longer a rescue, it is a recovery.

Weather Channel just had a reporter break down at the scene, sobbing.

I just can't get my head around it.

They did everything they could have to protect those kids, they got them into a brick building, in the basement.

Just horrifying. Those kids, those parents, those families.

I lived just miles from the May 3, 1999 Moore tornado hit that and this one as well. Horrible.

The 1999 tornado had wins in excess of 320 mph, the highest ever recorded on earth. The national media is saying this tornado is at least a EF4 but local meteorologist in Oklahoma are saying the tornado had wins in excess of 300 mph.

I have friends that live in Moore and it took hours to get a hold of them. Cell service is horrible. My friends wife is an elementary school teacher and after hearing that two schools got hit, I immediately thought of her. Thankfully, her school was not hit.

She is still at her school with her children as they have not heard from many of their parents....

Roads are blocked, communications are down, water treatment plants are down. It's a disaster...

This is a time lapse video of the tornado.

After about 30 seconds, you can see how massive it got.

WMC Action News 5 leads the Mid-South in breaking news and weather for Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Olive Branch, Southaven and West Memphis.

See, it takes Pauly to make this thread ugly.

I am not going to bite.

I feel badly for those kids, and my thoughts go out to their families.

The Nation Weather service won't confirm this for a few days until they survey the damage but that's what the Oklahoma City meteorologist were saying the radar showed.

On Google maps, you can see the satellite map before the devastation.

When it updates later this year it will be shocking to see.

They knew storms were coming that day but it's pretty tough to predict tornados. They only had a 16 minute warning and with the tornado reaching widths of a mile wide it would have been more dangerous to go try and get your kid once you knew there was a tornado.

The only option you would have had would have been to keep them out all day, and in Oklahoma they get bad storms all the time. Not practical. Most of the schools are well equipped with tornado basements though because of what happened to the same town in 1999. Infact, with the torando completely demolishing one school it's a miracle that there haven't been more deaths.

We had an F4 last year that took the lives of many people including throwing two children in a pond, where they subsequently drowned. That's three major tornadoes in the last year alone. Most just don't hit the more populated cities therefore don't get as much media coverage.

The guys trolling in this thread are just trying too hard to get a reaction. Yes, it's that obvious. Just let it be. Sometimes things happen in life that are absolutely terrible and you don't have to be that guy. Just let them be. We don't ask for your compassion but that doesn't mean you need to spit on the situation at hand either.
