    I almost always defend Capitalism
but I usually place a caveat in that defense. I write it is the best economic system of a group of bad economic systems, until we get a better one it will have to do. I also say that I believe a Capitalistic economic system with some Socialism is better and will be better if:

first of all, are you watching Boeing being grilled on these two accidents. senators want to know why it happened. this crap happens all the time with huge companies, well not all the time but often enough to make you wonder, isn't that the truth. so here is what it boils down to. Who do you trust more? that is it in a nutshell my friends.
Who do you trust more when it comes to personal safety in an airline. Do you trust the private section which has some very big wants and the biggest is the BOTTOM LINE. Or do you trust a federal government which has no bottom line concern and the biggest concern is safety and comfort of the citizen.

well, I have just got a taste of government planned gambling by joining 5 PA betting joints. I know I will get paid, I know I will not be cheated, I know the casino will be honest but you will still lose. I know their will be regulations guarding me, the casino, the government and everybody else involved. And you know what else I know. I know I like the PA books much better than the off shore. And I know with only these five in competition the lines will get better, the vig will get better, the options will get better.

    think about it.

Boeing admits to being wrong, they own it. Well that doesn't help the dead people and their families which I am sure count at or around 10,000 or more.

but, what about the text messages from Boeing's chief test pilot complaining about this issue. were they ignored, if so why. this is what I mean by the statement who do you trust MORE as the bottom line. do you trust an organization who has the bottom line as their most important duty. or do you trust an organization who has anything but a bottom line as a duty.

yes, capitalism works very very well, but when it doesn't these are the questions that need to be answered. Can a national airline have an accident, of course and they do. That isn't the question, the question is what organization would you trust more. you might think an organization that wants to succeed will do all it can to make that happen. that is common sense, but it isn't what we see often when we are reviewing specific problems--like this one.

I assume this question will be debated for a few more decades, maybe even a few more centuries. Who knows for sure. Yes, it is a difficult question and it boils down to personal opinion. that is unless we someday have actual facts comparing two actual real economic systems and we can quantify and qualify those facts using science and math. when that happens, if it happens those people alive will have more info to base an educated decision on.

for me I know what I prefer.
