The best answer that libs give is the one hilary and Obama offered; we don't need growth, things are fine. They follow that up with the jobs that left are not coming back and oh by the way we have income inequality.

So far the Dem plan to grow the economy and wages is to pretend it's not an issue.

As some may remember Bush W defeated Al Gore in 2000. Gore actually voted FOR tax cuts. The election in 2000 was decided by 300 votes.

Gore won the income $50k & under vote 53-45

Some 16 years later Trump wins the same group 53-36

As dems moved to the left they no longer had a message or even an offer a hope for this group.

It is still possible to win without the growing working class. But it's very difficult. As Dems move further to the left they cede more of this demographic to the republicans. To complicate the matter the far left base wants nothing to do with this group and openly demeans them as deplorables.
