Just landed - a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future!

Declaration For American Democracy
The Republican National Committee (RNC) is spending more than $10 million on an anti-voter campaign to spread lies about voting rights reforms that would allow Americans the freedom to safely vote during this pandemic, with steps like vote-by-mail. They’re calling it “Protect the Vote,” but it should be called “Protect the Status Quo.”
Reforms that make it easier for Americans to vote, like vote-by-mail, early voting, and online registration are safe, time-tested, and secure policies in place in different states around the country. The RNC’s campaign is a cynical effort to sow doubt about our elections and voting processes — and it harms our democracy.
Why are they launching an effort to intentionally spread misinformation and make it unsafe for people to vote in November? And why are they talking out of both sides of both sides of their mouth?
Recently, the RNC sent a mailer to voters in Pennsylvania that said: “Voting by mail is an easy, convenient and secure way to cast your ballot. Return the attached official Republican Party mail-in ballot application to avoid lines and protect yourself from large crowds on Election Day.”
Whatever the motive, it is an affront to the founding democratic principles that are meant to unite our nation, no matter how divided we are by political party. If there’s one thing we should all be able to agree on, it’s that every voter in America should have the chance to vote without risking their life during a pandemic. And we do! Two-thirds of voters in a recent Wall Street Journal / NBC News poll favor voting by mail in November.
Indeed, these head-scratching claims run counter to the priorities of Republican party officials, such as Secretary of State Kim Wyman (R-WA), who in a virtual townhall recently said, “I don’t think vote by mail, as an option in the COVID-19 social distancing environment we find ourselves in, is a Democrat or Republican issue.” And former RNC chairman Michael Steele wrote in a recent op-ed that “the current emergency demands expanded use of vote-by-mail,” and our “democracy depends on it.”
Here are the facts:
Truth №1: There is absolutely no evidence that measures to help people vote safely will increase the risk of election fraud. This argument is merely another example of dangerous propaganda coming from the White House.
In the 2018 midterm election, more than 1-in-4 voters cast their votes by mail, and the results were fair and accurate. Research suggests that states must begin taking action in May to be ready for the election in November, and to avoid another disaster like the Wisconsin primary. That’s why the Declaration for American Democracy coalition is calling on the Senate to follow the House’s lead and include a full $3.6 billion investment in the next Covid-19 package and require states to take steps now so we have a safe and secure election this fall.
Truth №2: One of the RNC’s flimsiest arguments against vote-by-mail is that, “A nationwide mail-in ballot system disenfranchises voters by limiting their options.” The claim that giving voters more options somehow limits their ability to access the polls just doesn’t make any sense.
The thing is, that’s what our coalition and voting rights advocates are calling for: more options.
More options means giving no-excuse vote-by-mail ballots to seniors in every state who don’t feel safe leaving their homes to vote. It involves providing early voting for nurses in every state who don’t have time to stand in a long line between working their shift in the ICU and making dinner for their kids. It even involves offering Donald Trump the choice to vote-by-mail again in November as he did in the 2018 election and 2020 Florida primary. Because if it’s good enough for the president, it should be good enough for the citizens. It also means maintaining safe, clean in-person polling places on Election Day for those unable or unwilling to vote by mail.
Truth №3: More people safely accessing the polls in November does not give either party an upper hand. Research shows that it equally increases the number of voters from each political party. So it’s no surprise to see many Republican governors and Secretaries of State reject Trump’s thinking and join Democratic governors in calling for pro-voter policies.
Any candidate running for office should want to get out the vote in every possible way, to earn a true mandate from the American people. Winning an election with a misinformation campaign would be a disgrace.Comment -

The GOP in Shelby county is trying to strong arm the Ds into agreeing to buy a risky new touchscreen system similar to GA’s from a vendor whose machines in Shelby & GA have been shown to have deleted electronic votes from predominantly black precincts.
The Democratic-led funding commission votes tomorrow on whether to override the GOP’s decision. If the story were aired in TV, it would help prevent the Ds from buckling.
They may buckle bc the Rs in Shelby are bullies & may threaten to sue if Ds don’t agree to their choice of vendor (ES&S of the disappearing black votes) & system: vulnerable touchscreen voting machines activated by even more vulnerable WiFi or Bluetooth connected e-pollbooks.
ES&S should be investigated, not awarded another contract. I’m told ES&S had keys to the tabulation room in Shelby. This is not ok. None of it is ok.
