This isn't a whining thread, this isn't a bitching thread (although, kind of ironic that last week I brought up that I would never bitch about formats during the 'That guy only has 2 cashes and gets a bye' thread). I bring this up as 'levels moved too fast' was the most common complaint in the WSOP final, there were multiple times in the mid-late stages where I had no real option other than what the blind/stacks dictated, I had a slight advantage being one of a handful that were making these decisions to get in a position to take the tournament down, but by doing so, I also had to run very very well, something I'm not ashamed to admit.
The levels for the Top 100 are listed as:
Round 1s: 21-50, 3000 chips, 8 minute levels.
100-51, 3000 chips, 8 minute levels.
Final: 5,000 chips, 10 minute levels.
For the Round 1s, I can see both of those having issues in early-mid stages for the 1st one (General disclaimer, I am in position as of now to be in this one) and mid-late for the 2nd.
The first tournament has less players in it, which I'm assuming is looked at as an advantage for those that finished in the Top 50. I make the argument that with less players, there are less overall chips in play and players M will be dropping at a much faster rate in less hands resulting in a shovefest after about a half hour when the antes kick in.
The second tournament, with more tables should have a slower beginning, but with more tables, players will be in more shorthanded situations and seeing more hands per level, moving that button around faster.
I understand and appreciate that SBR poker is for fun, for entertainment and provided to give a more recreational experience than some of the real money online sites. I also understand that this is for a Championship, bragging rights for some, legitimate SBR Store purchasing power on the line for others. I would believe that 5,000 start/10 minute levels for the Round 1s and 10,000 start/20 minute levels for the final would let us answer the question 'Who is the 2011 SBR Champion?' instead of 'Who ran best in the SBR Championship?'
Best of luck to all of you playing and thanks in advance for keeping this discussion civil.
