Seems very short lived! Play one time and your rating goes to high being force to step up level. Is SBR babysitting now?

Bad Idea because it will show tt true level which I can assure you is extremely low. I'll bet anybody that he is in bottom 25%.

you are exactly right here! Been on same table many times and remember only one time that SBR_John was up. Bet he is in bottom 25% also. Post my ratings I don't care as everybody is soon to fine out anyhow.

Wow, poker segregation!? Why do weak players need to be protected? I don't get why this is needed. If we see SBR_John constantly at the Sanctuary table raking in the chips we will know why.

How far will the ratings go back when they come out? From the beginning of SBR Poker? Based on ring play? Tourney play?

I enjoy stats, rankings and numbers and stuff so I will like this. Players shouldn't take this too seriously. Just enjoy it for what it's worth. SBR Poker has improved many novice players games, myself included, so this should just help make players better.

They go back from day 1. We always had this function we just never had a use for it. It's my understanding it ranks all play no matter ring game or tourney.
The new Sanctuary tables will be for those players who have a 1450 rating or below. Most everyone is in the 1600 range. You will be able to click cashier to see your own rating. No one else will know your rating. If your rating drops below 1450 you can play in the Sanctuary but keep in mind that it will likely be only temporary. When you win you will be called back to the Majors.

Good stuff. Don't have to post individuals' ratings of course, but it'd be nice for SBR maybe to post what the highest rating is and then maybe a chart or something show what % of players are between certain ranges. Just to give posters an idea if they are top 10% or top 25% or bottom 25% or whatever.

I really like that idea, whether the chart is posted or the cleansed/raw data is posted, I could whip up a few views on it.
Cheers.

I guess it might give away who is rated where, but maybe down the line there ought to be some tournaments based on ratings. Like a top 5% invite tourney. Maybe some tourneys only for those in the bottom 25%. Something like that, with something extra for the top-rated folks.

This will eventually Kill SBR Poker...
I can tell that you guys are trying to get SBR Poker off the ground, and that is very important to someone behind the scenes...but..
This is the worst thing you guys could do...
Ruins any chance of ever being a "legit", respected, poker room...
If you want SBR Poker to get off the ground, "hire" some props (give them points) to keep the games going, the rake you generate from the games constantly going will pay for your props and get the ring games off the ground.
Guys don't want to play 2-3 handed with other good players and lose to the drop. Now you're taking the "bad" players away from the pool..
I can promise you this is an idea that will fail.
The bad players end up losing their points anyways whether it be in the casino or to sports, you need to concentrate on the fringe player that wants to jump in a full game and wait for aces... the only way you get this is with Props to keep games going...

The current SBR poker ring games is way too much of a ghost town for that to work. It is difficult enough finding a full 10 person (or at least close to full) table to play at as is. A lot of times I have to sit alone at a table for 15+ minutes just waiting for a single person to show up. This will only make it worse.

You're right it is slow but picking up every week.
Bigdaddy: that would be me.
Keep in mind a Sanctuary player can play on any table. But if he sits at a sanctuary table he is assured of playing with guys of his own skill level.

My rating is 1402 and I haven't even played a ring game since this stupid thing started.
Also not sure how it's 1402 when the range low is 1300...I'm inside the Top 75 on the earnings list

.and one year BYU finished the year rated #1 when they would of easily been a a 2 TD dog to Florida St. No ratings are perfect. As a chess player I can beat guys rated 2000 even though I'm a career 1450 guy. Its really no different than a 7 point football dog winning outright.
Our ratings are all mathematical very similar to what you might see as power ratings and nearly exactly the way chess player ratings are determined.

i think its a good idea. it doesnt effect anyone else so not sure why people are complaining. i would rather be good and be able to play anywhere and not that table then be bad and only play on that table. least those people have a place to go and learn
