June SBR Poker Contest Signup

With May winding down its time to startup a new contest for June. For those who have not participated below are the rules if your interested.

Entry Fee: 50 SBR Points, YOU MIGHT AS WELL JOIN CAUSE ONLY TOP THREE ARE GETTING PAID IN SATELLITES NOW.

THis tourney will last from Wednesday 6-1 thru 6-23 and will involve the Monday-Friday SBR main event satrellite tourneys. Payouts will occur to winners at the end of the month for those that finish at the top of the standings.

This contest rewards top 10 finishes instead of just the top three.

Points will be awarded as follows. (Note these are points for standings alone and not actual points that I will be sending you)

60 player satellite. Points accumulate for the month.

1st- 10 Points
2nd- 9 Pts
3rd- 8 pts
4th- 7 pts
5th- 6 pts
6th- 5 pts
7th- 4pts
8th- 3pts
9th- 2 pts
10th- 1 pt


IF you participated in this last month you realize it’s a lot of fun checking in and chatting up the other guys. Please forward the link to this to anyone you think may be interested in participating.


Post up the 50 points to me if you are interested in participating for June. You are not considering in until points are sent. Do not wait until after you place in a tourney to try and sign up.

To anyone considering, don't let my (or anyone else's) presence discourage you from joining. Last time, I was near the bottom and last month's winner was middle of the pack this time. In other words, there is going to be a fair bit of luck involved so everyone has a decent shot, and its a lot of fun chatting/reading about everyone's tournaments each day.

We will pay four or five people. Cannot pay too many more than that with only 25 people or so in the field. Obviously if I get more I will adjust the payouts accordingly.

Not paying ten, ten people will receive points toward the standings. At the end of contest/month the top 4 or 5 will be paid out points. (depending on number of entries.)

I tell you what DS sent 50 Points and keep the 50 for doing such a good
Job last month, not to big of a deal I am doing allright with my Sportsbook
just little Bets but pretty high winning %, been doing this with 3 Books
for over 50 years and got half ass decent for the last 25 years, did not
make me rich, but provides enough for the Wife and I to take some nice
Cruises we love so much Thanks again

Ireland your a prince amongst men. I'm humbled by the generosity. I would normally just send them back out of humility but I do miss not being amongst you guys in the thick of it. While I'm not entering because I don't play these everyday my guess is that the differences between this (flat schedule with many spots qualifying for points) and the payout of the tournament (few spots paid with sharp increase in payouts) are significant enough to make this -EV for anyone except those who put this before winning in the daily tournaments.

I would think the prize pool this would produce (in comparison to daily awards) wouldn't justify changing your strategy until late in the month at which point those who incorrectly adjusted too early are already the likely winners...

Just to clarify I'm not suggesting that your contest doesn't look like fun... Just suggesting that either a more top heavy point structure or fewer payouts might work better since SBR's payouts are so contrasting...

We are only actually paying out the top 4 or 5. Plus this contest is only for 50 points so the pool at the end does not justify trying to win this as opposed to the actual daily tournaments(winning one would daily would equal approx the month long prize) I have busted numerous times 10-15 trying to accumulate chips when I could have just as easily folded to the top 10 and got points for this thing.
