    your first live poker experience
just curious as to your first live casino cash game. im putting some thought as to doing my first at the end of this month.

So how did your first time go? what were the stakes and how did you do?

im thinking of going to the local casino as a part of my vacation and take about 300 down and play in the 1/2 nl game.

not sure what to expect but i really would like to try my hand in it. like ALL poker players, i feel im better than i am but i think it could be fun.

went on a casino boat at the beach...played in a $2/$5 no limit table...min. buy in was $100 and max $300...i bought in for $200 and cashed out for $1180, so not bad for a five hour boat ride...im not the best player in the world, just fortunate to catch monsters all night...people could tell i was new and nervous so they kept calling my raises, but i really had great cards all nite, no need to try and bluff...i know this is not good money for most of you but i was happy.

The first time I played live poker was 2/4 limit HE at Foxwoods. It was cold out so I was wearing a heavy sweatshirt. I was nervous about keeping up with the game and was pretty quiet. Two guys at the other end of the table started berating me for being at the Foxwoods poker room every day and trying to play 2/4 for a living. They "knew" I was a pro 2/4 limit player because I was wearing a sweatshirt. One of the dealers joined with them in berating me for playing 2/4 limit hold 'em for a living, saying comments like "have fun making your 50 cents an hour." This lasted over an hour. An angry Asian guy sitting next to me was yelling at everybody and shooting angles. Twice he screamed in broken English that I didn't put my small blind in the pot after I folded and the dealer had to go back and count the whole pot out to make sure it was correct. A guy whose breath smelled worse than my farts was swearing at an old man who sucked out on him. I heard about 10 bad beat stories.

I won something like $40 and didn't play live poker again for a long time.

Now I play live poker nearly every day of my life. Most of the time it's a fun experience, but I make sure to avoid places like Foxwoods and Hard Rock in Vegas where everybody acts like they're in a competition to see who is the most miserable person in the room.

Played my first ever live cash game in a poker house here in DC. Nicest most discrete place ever. Food and drinks on the house. Game was 1/2 100 minimum buy in. Nice place bought in for 100 and left in 3 hours with 300. Good for my very first time... My first live game at a casino was at the Trop in AC. They have a nice poker room. (Havent been to any others (Harrahs,Taj...) Bought in for 60 at the 1/2 game. I ****ed up... I should have bought in for 100+++ because everyone had 200+ on the table. So I managed to see a couple of hands before crapping out to a boat. Left the Poker area and never came back.

My first live experience was $1/2 NL at 3 in the morning on a long Thursday night during finals week my first year of college. I went down with a couple of my buddies and we all ended up playing at the same table. Lost 60 trying to bluff my friend but made it back with quad Aces. Ended the night down about 40. All in all it was a good experience. Just go in with a good attitude and be friendly. Relax! I remember being pretty nervous the first time I sat down.

my bank roll was 200 but i was broke within 1 hour
then i borough money from my buddy and took another 100 on my credicard for a total loss of 500
but i reverse the night and collected at cashier 700

I can't remember my first cash game experience, but I remember my first live tournament. I went with a bar friend of mine, and HE busted me. I finished about 22nd place out of about 70. For a first-time live tourney person, with about one year of online under his belt, that was pretty damn good.
