only if short stacked and in relatively late position.....

if tremendously short stacked, as I often am on sbr, 1 bb or less, from any position

in real life poker rarely, unless very short stacked, or on the button trhough cutoff with weak players; and never into a huge stack that might call....

I have read that pocket 8s (I am omitting hands like AK s and higher pairs) are profitable in early position and you adjust your hand range according to position when first to act.

Pocket 5s would be the lowest but in some situations you can go lower if you have pot odds and implied pot odds.

I wouldn’t open with pocket 6s unless I was in middle/late position. I would call; however, if people are limping in in front of me.

The above applies to a full table and I play tight in early position. The 8s rule above hasn’t been fully explained by me but overall it was quantified by a few professional players quantifying EV by using a large sample size of hand history.

Donk is also right on when you are short stacked.

To be honest I am not sure SBR would be a good place to get a read on this. I am shocked how many times guys on here shove 22 against me. Even more shocked how many times that turns into 4 card flush or a straight.
