Rake free sounds good but I wonder what sort of clientele they will get with a $500/yr membership fee to sit down.

They will not make enough money to operate. Normal poker rooms make way more than $500 a player in rake over a year and most barely turn a profit. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a scam from the start to fleece dumb poker players for membership to a club that will never exist. Would not be the first time that has happened.

Lol under 5 minutes on google and 100% this is so obviously a scam

Its run by a scam artist named Michael Eakman, who has a history using poker to scam.

Hope you didn't buy a membership Donker, looks like this room doesn't even exist.

It shouldnt be called rake free as this is the same way that some Vegas casinos used to charge poker players.

Every 30 minutes you give the dealer a $5 chip to remain playing, even if you are not at the table. So "the house" is still making $100 an hour for that poker game.

And sure it doesnt say that you need to tip the dealer, but most players are still going to give the dealer $1 a hand.

And that $1 a hand is more than most players realize. At the local casinos in Louisiana, those old farts who play 40-50 hours a week are tipping out a huge amount. Lets just say that you win 1 hand per hour. Well that is $40 a week and around $2000 per year. And then you see some crazy players give like $10 for a win. Even at $1 max. you are giving out alot per year

Actually you can play for just $10 per day and that is the route that most players should use. At the yearly rate, you need to play 50 days just to break even off of the $10 per day rate.

have a nephew going to check it out.... heard Eakman is running it, and that obviously raises a red flag....

i'd only play bigger trnies there if at all, not going to waste my time driving that far for a cash game when i have dozens of them all around me.....

he's advertising the shit out of it in the espn fm radio channell here in H-town.....

exactly... I think that's the way the Isle runs their lower limit cash games; half hour rakes and no raking the pots.... haven't played at the Isle in over 3-4 years now, so can't be sure how they run their shit now.....

If I didn't live on the exact opposite end of H'town from this place, I'm sure I'd give it a whirl.....

as is, I may play there on a weeklong trip to galveston if there's anything juicy goin' on that week......

but, from the looks of it, sharpy is spot on with his doubt.... and definitely not alone......

as is, a room called the Legion has been around forever, and fulfills all my local needs....

best thing I saw on that webpage:

                                      hell no....

once established, assuming it is, and by most accounts the guy has the space and signs out front now, I might play a few bigger events there trny wise, provided they pay proceeds that night (not accepting anything less than cash unless a wsop rep is there confirming any voucher/satellite into a circuit final or the main, etc.).....

too far from me, being that it's near galveston and im up in Lakewood Forrest..... f'n 55-6o mile drive to it, and I have plenty of respected long-standing games on my side of town......

po-69, and a few others on here, know of those games and have played them for years.....

I think this guy is tryig to go legit, tho I, like Sharpy, think the model as they have it at present is tenuous at best as far as survival goes, particularly with the expenses of the space, security, personnel, etc......

we'll see..... fishing in the surf is coming up, so i may have an opportunity to check it out once it opens..... may do a vid while down there.....
