What should be the next SBR Poker Contest/Promotion ?

You could have some rake race or +/- contest in ring games where the top 10 or whatever winners for a duration of time receive a prize. I know they can track it because they use to give us the biggest winners of the day. Still keep daily tournaments in some capacity. Would drive a lot of action to the tables.

That would be interesting, although I think the action would be short-lived simply because of the limited point pool. It's hard to run traditional poker contests when the players are on a small, fixed budget and can't redeposit.

How about do a team competition similar to World Cup but instead of geographical regions just let the top 4 players during qualifying act as team captains.

Have them draft their team out of the remaining qualifying player pool. Maybe even allow them each to add a 'ringer' out of the players that missed the cut (based on poker skills, bribes, sexual favors- IDGAF why just let them add a random)

I would even prefer 'captains' be based on average cash instead of total points, who doesn't want to be the first round pick for Team Sinmeido?

This has been floated last couple of World Cups I think, and it's a much better way to do it...would be a much better way of doing it and would get rid of the disparity between regions for qualifying.

I agree team poker kinda sucks - but the amount of shit talking/begging before/during/after the draft would be entertaining.

also, Rake Race? get the penetrate out of here with that idea -watching the same 10 guys fold for 3 months? that would be sad on many levels

I'm with ya on that aspect of the team poker bosco...an unconventional poker setup like this needs something you can't find elsewhere, and trash talk and chest thumping is really all that comes to mind. Any format is gonna have to enable that to succeed imo.

Just using a rake race as an example. Not the route id suggest. My idea is more so geared towards tracking the biggest winners on ring games. You'd still have the daily tournaments for rollover flow but instead of the standings based on tournament finishes it'd be based on ring game winnings.

Everyone wants ring games to improve but nobody wants to change anything. How many times are you going to run the same structured tournaments and contests over & over again? Even the World Cup is the same thing over and over again.
