#6Best in the world, meaning well rounded? I agree that it would have to be Phil Ivey...
But getting into categorical games the list could get very long and different from everyone. Adding online there could be names not many people even heard of.Comment -

#10Chip Reese who passed away (2007-2008 i believe), was an absolute monster at cash games.
Even a lot of the "best of the best" wouldn't sit at across from him. He is widely regarded as having been the greatest cash game poker player. Doyle Brunson describes Reese as "one of the two finest young … poker players in the world" and the best seven-card stud player he had ever played.

#11If we're talking best of all time then Chip Reese is the man good call homey. Not just poker either. He was an amazing overall gambler who won whatever game he decided to play. One of the best MLB cappers ever too.
Best alive is still Ivey and it's not really close.Comment -

#13If I ever see Chris Ferguson at a live table I'll pull his Stetson over his eyes and unleash my full tilt rage by giving him an atomic wedgie he'll be attending to for weeks.
After I stack him though because he's an absolute cupcake in cash games.Comment -

#24Negreanu, although a great player was getting destroyed at the big games. He also at 1 time announced that he stopped playing them all together. He even was quoted recently that he would need 2 yrs to beat online 5000NL (25/50 blinds). Now in MTT's, he is probably the best. Maybe not as many bracelets as some, but penetrate a bracelet and give me the cash.
Hellmuth and Ferguson (Chris also quit cash games he said) should not sit down at cash games, but are very good MTT players. Cash games and MTT's are 2 different animals.
So are we saying best MTT player? Well rounded? Cash and if so which game? Names can and will change with each niche.Comment -
