What do people who win in online poker long term play?

Do they specialize in sit n gos do they play multi tables, do they only play headsup or do they only play cash games or do they mix it up?

I used to play back in the day at Full tilt and I would only play turbo sit n gos and having played multiple years now when I look back I remember barely breaking even thanks to the rakeback they offered. I played at bodog/bovada for a while but the fact that everyone is anonymous turned me off and stopped playing their as well. Finally I played at 5dimes for a few months last year and after realizing I was wasting my time and the variance was simply too much and I could not win long term I stopped playing.

With all this being said is their still people out their that grind out 10+ hours a day and are able to profit consistently? Back in the day this was possible but in today's date their are so many good players out their and with all the resources available every player has the potential to better themselves. So how are these people that are profiting consistently online doing it with the amount of variance and the amount of solid players out their?

That's the beautfiul thing about poker: solid is all relative. A higher percentage of players are not terrible, but there's still a lot of so-so players playing an unsophisticated, exploitable game. Remaining pros have simply improved faster than the average player; in many cases, as a result of studying and committment the average player is unwilling to put in.

Some are mass multi-tabling nits who live off of rakeback. Play whatever you want to. I have a friend who plays hundreds of sngs a day. Some people like the big scores of tournaments. Personally I like playing 6-max cash. Sitting through hours of slow moving tournaments bores me to tears.

tournament players suck at cash games. they can play short stack poker with 5-10 big blinds (decisions are obvious). They can't play with 100+ big blinds.
