On a poker note, makes me sad how the PPA and the like will talk up any politician in office who looks like he/she might support poker, instead of unilaterally siding and supporting the 3rd parties who believe poker isn't a criminal activity

Anyone ever played one of these? How is it run and what does it mean when they say 1-10 wins $400
Thinkin bout entering one of these at the Taj in AC...They run them daily there

($40+$10) 15,000 in chips. 20-minute blind levels. 1 in 10 wins $400.Comment -

#67A survivor tournament means there's an automatic even-money chop of the prize pool as soon as the bubble bursts. So for the Taj tournament instead of the top 10% of the field making the money and then playing down to a winner, everyone in the top 10% goes home with $400.Originally posted by sweepAnyone ever played one of these? I hadn't heard of survivor tournaments prior to this summer, but I think it's a good innovation. In most live tournies everyone is so shortstacked by the end that it's just a crapshoot. Also, chopping it early shaves a lot of time off the tournament, which is good for both players and the house.Comment -

So if Im reading that correctly I a would be paying 50 entry for only a shot at 400 bucks?Comment -

#69Yea... It's structured like a satellite and is kinda like a double or nothing on steroids. The field needs to be sorry to pay $40 +10 to win $400. If there's 30-50 people signing up, it may be worth playing. Anything bigger, I don't know.Originally posted by sweepThank Ian-

Part of the attraction tourists and people in general have to tournaments is the big scores. I think these die down once the novelty wears off.Comment -

#70Yup. Lower, flatter pay structure + 20% vig. From a profit standpoint it will be difficult to beat that $10 juice for anything substantial, but it's actually a pretty good deal if you just want to play some cards without risking a lot of money. The house profits on B&M poker tournaments are so low that at 10 bucks a head they're probably only barely making a profit themselves.Originally posted by sweepThank Ian-
