Last year before the bash my friends and I stayed there. The room was cheap and just a room, I would stay there again.

That said the poker room was crap, I played there once and I did not like it.

What I like about the Flamingo is that it is centrally located. I think we spent most of poker playing time in Planet Hollywood with some time at MGM and Bellagio. All three are great for poker.

Really as far as poker, my favourite overall place to play was the Venetian but that was a few years ago. I think Aria is where a lot of the Venetian and Caesars/Bellagio games have went but I did not play at Aria to know first hand.

Mandalay Bay and The Mirage were pretty good from my memory also.

Flamingo is great location. Rooms are old and dingy so you are paying for the location.

The poker room gets plenty of action but has a bunch of drawings and jackpots they take extra rake out for.

Every time I play in the Flamingo poker room I get sick for some reason so I stay away

So if you are going with the girlfriend, I assume you want a nicer hotel, I would suggest any of the newer hotels and or the Venetian/Palazzo. They have very nice rooms/spas/amenities and poker rooms.

          Cheers!

Personally, I think if you're looking for the softest 1/2 NL game, the Flamingo is #2 behind O'Shea's which is closed for renovation. The few times I've been to Vegas the last couple of years, I have seen a few of the rooms regs every time. Wasn't uncommon to see more than one person in the game up over a G.

If you wait until June, the new LVH that was the Hilton is offering $36/night rooms 7 days a week for the 10 weeks of this years WSOP.

I'm heading there next week for a few days and plan to hit up the aria poker room so will report back! Like bellagio too. Am staying in a spa suite at Mandalay bay so bad thing is its at the end f strip so we will be getting our exercise! Gl with the gf I took the wife 2 years back and she loved it. She is a math genius so taught her perfect jacks or better strategy and left her for hours. She ended up a couple hundred plus always buzzed so wants to go back

The flamingo has a great location, great pool, and the wildlife habitat is a nice, free place to chill out.

The casino itself is not so hot. They pump in this noxious scent that smells like a combination of swisher sweets and farts. The sportsbook isn't good in terms of either lines or a comfortable place to watch a game. The poker room, being a Harrah's/Caesar's property, has the highest rake in Vegas. I haven't been in the poker room in a while, but as of 6 months ago their clientele consisted largely of miserable low-rolling locals chasing their various freeroll schemes.

I'm local, so if you have any (reasonable number) of questions I can give you some info.

                  swisher sweets and farts....yummy!

as for info....i just came back from vegas a month ago and stayed at aria. the rooms there are really nice (especially for us as we got bumped up to the sky suites for free). if you want a little luxury for you and the g/f, the aria is definitely worth the money.

the aria has a great poker room, unfortunately i was only able to play one session as we had a packed calender. the players overall were pretty solid but you still had donks that would come and go. i was pretty much card dead but ran into a couple of big hands and was able to make about $200 in 5 hours.

as for other recommendations...if you and your g/f are into borat/bruno comedy, check out the show "absinthe" at ceasar's. it's hilarious. just be aware it's very crude (and some people aren't into that). but we had a great time. also, if you want to hit a nice buffet, the "wicked spoon" at cosmo is great. definitely not a low end buffet at all.

if this doesn't sound like your kind of thing, i recommend going on the yelp ap and typing in what kind of places you are looking for (dive bar/brewery/dance club/etc). their is a ton of info out there on it.

hope you have a great time. i can't wait to head back in early oct. (only 160 days, but who's counting).

I try to goto Vegas every year. This past year I went twice, once in October and once earlier this month. I stayed at the Flamingo and Mirage.

I've stayed at the Flamingo three times. Last time I got a Go room and it wasn't that much better than a normal room there. I wouldn't spend the extra money. The Mirage is far and away a better hotel quality wise but I like the Flamingo because of the location. It's pretty much in the center of everything. Seeing as how I'm not in the room very much, I would definitely stay there again because of the location.

My friend happened to be in town the same time I was and he had a suite at the Aria. That place was on a whole different level, especially the room.

Anyway, I think location is the most important thing so the Flamingo will be fine. I also got drank drink service there but I was tipping my cocktail waitress pretty well.

                      Good luck.
