People quickly forget Kobe and the Lakers 2005-07. Guy was scoring 35 every night but they didn't do squat in the playoffs. Those were his prime years too. Big Deem I know you are a young guy. And I have full respect for you as a capper. However if you think this is the 1st pile on "bought" team the Lakers have had you are 10 years behind. They brought in the granola eating, front runner, I don't wanna start a mediocre franchise team from scratch Jackson to front this bunch. LMAo he is the only superstar to never ever have anyone want to go there on their own. We will surely see that at the end of this year, if Howard doesnt stay, and I say that possibility is 75-80%, it will once again show people dont want to play with him if they have a choice. I have thrown the challenge out over and over again, the guy has played 8 seasons since Shaq left name a single guy that was a free agent who chose to go to L.A.. Or one that was worth anything. I cant name many that signed there regardless.
Lakers fell into a pile of shit and caeme out smelling like a rose though as they got Bynum who was better than just about everyone expected, then that scumbag (whom everyone here idolizes) Jerry West gave them Pau Gasol for nothing, but the league approved it so that just shows how the league operates as well, and kobe lucked into some big guys to clean up the shit he does.
What might really be telling is if lakers try to move Kobe to entice howard to stay. Then what do people say? Would be a better business move but I doubt lakers would ever do it, but if they really want to have a good transition and a possible long term 'successful' run in them it makes sense. Assuming of course Howards back is OK and not going to be an issue going forward.because I am sure more people would be willing to come play with a 27 or 28 year old guy (by then) than a washed up jerk that they didnt want to play with when he was at his peak. LA is still LA and it should still be the number one destination for guys, but since they havent been able to land anyone worth anything the last 15 years says a lot. While technically nash was a free agent, look what they gave up to get him and Nash was a sign and trade and his other options were Toronto and New York whom werent going to pay him enough or help out Phoenix enough. While nash is over the hill he is still a decent guy and he actually tried helping the Suns on his way out, which he did because Lakers were the most desperate and willing to give up the most for him.
Regardless no superstar or even all star has ever chose to go play in Los Angeles since Kobe has been there, and in most cases guys that got traded there or duped into going there got out as fast as they could. Karl malone faked an injury and sat out the first half of the season and just retired rather than play with the guy. If that doesnt tell you anything I dont know what does. Peyton begged for a trade and Lakers had to put together a bad deal just to get rid of him because he didnt want to stay.
Thats when lakers went in the tank, I suppose guys forgot that huh? When he had no help but a really young and injured Bynum, and Kwame brown they were barely a 500 team but still made the play offs but got eliminated in the first round both times. Kobe couldnt get traded fast enough, he actually wanted to go to the Clippers as well. But stern was scared that Los Angeles would be a black hole with 2 bad teams, let the gasol for kwame brown trade go through and lakers got instantly better over night. Because bynum got better and they got gasol and phil magically learned ho to coach again.
But this is what the lakers do. But they should have looked at their recent history and how bynum was the true diamond they found on their own and how he got better and addressed the issues as to why he was a head case. Which again I think will be lcear once he gets away from kobe and starts to dominate.Comment -

Last yr you said Bynum was better than Howard & why would the Lakers want Howard rather than Bynum?? They got better, they had to, but they arent that much better. They might be a 4 seed out west. They got lucky Griffen got hurt, but if he comes back 100% and bucky beaver can play clippers have a shot at the west.
Lakers still have a shit bench, antwan jamison is going to be a savior according to some people I guess. Another old never was with name recognition. Other than that they have gotten nothing, just signing a couple scrubs they already had.
Nash is going to turn 39 midway through the season, sometime in early Feb. Kobe is playing in the Olympics so more miles on his legs as well. Pau too, guy was next to useless late last year. He has played just about every minute of every game this summer so what toll will that take on him? But what is also telling is how hard this guy plays now for his country compared to how he played for the lakers.
Howards back is an issue, say whatever you want. Once you have back surgery you are never the same, ask anyone who has had their back messed with. Why do you think he went so long before he finally went under the knife. But even if he is 100% what he has been the past few years that still leaves his status at the end of the season.
No matter what Lakers arent going to win it all, and anything short of that is a laker haters 'win'. if they do win it all and Howard still leaves that is a tie for laker fans and haters. If they win and he stays and is healthy then you laker joc sniffers will have the last laugh I guess. But those chances are slim to none if you ask me of happening.
Bottomline is Lakers went all in this season, they have really risked everything for this one season in the hopes of winning it all. So the crash down will be much more spectacular. Without Howard they had low expectations, now with him those expectations are exponentially greater, which makes the failure even more epic.
I wont be living on the forums like most of the no lifers here, but i am sure i will pop in to keep a regular update on the ATS record of these over rated geriatrics because i am sure I will have another banner year fading these guys. The money I made from them last year made for a nice shopping spree this summer in baseball and that money I got from parlaying is more than you clowns ever dreamed of making betting on sports.
So while you can all make light of incorrect 'predictions' the fact remains I made a ton of money as a result of my opinions of that laker team because not only did I make money from them directly betting against them i reinvested it (without digging into an actual bankroll) and will end up with probably 5 fold the amount I collected on them by the time MLB ends.
Moral of the story... winners win, the rich get richer and the wannabes and dreamers end up crying by the way side.Comment -
