Terrell Owens to try out for Seattle Seahawks
Terrell Owens must have done something right.
Maybe that NFL workout that drew no one from the NFL back in October actually left a lasting impression.
Perhaps he caught someone's eye during his eight games with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League -- before getting cut from the team and losing his ownership stake.
Maybe it was that heartwarming appearance on "Dr. Phil" that moved someone in the Seattle front office to give T.O. a call.
Or perhaps the Seahawks are just desperate at wide receiver.
Whatever the reason may be, Owens finally has landed the NFL tryout he's been seeking since recovering from knee surgery last year. He is to work out for the Seahawks during an off-day for the team Monday.
Owens is the league's second-all-time-leading receiver, but he's 38 and hasn't played in the NFL since 2010. He has also burned several bridges in the league.
But the Seahawks signed free agent quarterback Matt Flynn during the off-season and could really use some help at the wide receiver position. Their top receiver from a year ago was Doug Baldwin, who had team highs with 788 yards receiving and four touchdowns.

Apparently the coaching staff isn't as confident.

Yes and no......Other than Sidney Rice, they don't really have a #2 WR. Who knows what they'll get out of Braylon Edwards and Golden Tate. Other than Sidney Rice, they don't really have anything. And my guess is that Pete Carroll isn't happy with the WR's, because if he was he wouldn't have reached out to Edwards and TO.

Didn't people say that two years ago when he signed with Cincinnati?

Desperation apparently setting in for the Seahawks. Even if he's 80 percent of what he was in his prime (and that's pretty doubtful), he is simply not worth the headache at this point.

who do the seahawks have at WR better than Owens?

                      No one even close.

Owens is at 6% body fat and is still a monster. Look at his body. Then look at Randy Mosses body. Now you're telling me Moss can still play but Owens can't?

I don't think that Moss is worth the headaches either. Moss hasn't been a factor for three years. Go through NFL history and find some wide receivers that were still good at age 35+. Even guys who trained their asses off like Jerry Rice and Cris Carter declined once they hit that age. Best case, a guy like Owens is going to be a possession-type receiver, probably the #3 guy... just not worth the potential issues that he will likely bring.

Chris Carter is no where near the athlete that owens is. Moss was the reason NE lost the perfect season to the Giants. He folded up shop in the SB. Owens played against the Pats in the SB on a broken ankle and lit them.

Why wouldn't you want Owens on your team? He's a winner, he wants to win and will do whatever it takes to win. When he played along side Ocho just a couple years ago it was obvious who was the better wide out.
