This is a very good question. Borderline.....I'd say if he is cleared from using roids yes. But probably a 4th or 5th ballot.

I might change my mind too but he did what he did as a 2B. I find it suspicious though that his numbers exploded once he went to San Francisco.....

Hitting in front of Balco Barry and stealing one of his MVP's, in addition to the porn stache and lying about his wrist injury on the motorcycle. A resounding hell no.

Yea I'll say no. I don't believe defensively he ever won a Gold Glove at 2B which is important if an infielder is to make the Hall of fame.

Gotta rate vs contemporaries at 2nd base. He had one MVP right?
Initial gut response is NO
But I could see him getting in after awhile.
Guy was also a major league asshole and sportswriters can hol grudges

Guys like Pettitte, Kent and Bernie Williams are not HOF players in my opinion. They are borderline but those types of players shouldn't get in if the Hall were to maintain credibility.

Didn't like him when he was on the Astros
Would rather put Craig Biggio in the hall
In other words, if Biggio isn't getting in, neither should Kent
At least Biggio was clean(I hope)

I agree
Let's not make the baseball HOF like the NFL HOF where they let pretty much anyone who ever made a pro bowl in

i get what youre saying but bernie williams didnt have close to the individual career that jeff kent did...if bernie was in minnesota youd hardly know who he was...add to it that he's an outfielder and he's as close to the hall of fame as i am

How the fukk did Sandberg get in. That really lowers the bar for the Kents, Lou Whitaker, Craig Biggio types.

1500 RBIs is one of those magic numbers, drove in 100 runs 8 out of 9 years while playing second base. He'll get in.

Huh? Guy was a 5 tool 2nd baseman and ahead of his time. Go look at the stats of the other 2nd basemen in the hall

If Jeff Kent gets in then Alfonso Soriano should get in based on his numbers. Once again....HOF will lose it's credibility.

Biggio was not clean, i know a few people who played with him & Bagwell who told me in 1996 they were on roids & i refused to believe it back then, but now i know these guys were all juicing up

I be a Giants fan, and Jeff Kent was a stud, ain't no doubt about it.
As a second baseman with those stats, he could sneak in.
I don't think he should get in though, just because he played 2B doesn't mean he was a defensive wizard; I mean dude was like 6 foot 1 and didn't have the natural grace at second.
Pure product of the ERA, nothing special about the defense which makes him a true 2B. Stick him at 1B and he'll be league average.
