Are those Bookmaker percentages really the number of bets on each side?

No they are not, Sports Insights is very accurate and you can even get a breakdown by book. I wouldn't trust most free sites though with the notable exception of SBR, which is accurate but uses 5 Dimes only.

No, knowing % of bets is more important. The lines moves with the money like 99% of the time, so knowing $$$ bet won't reveal anything because it will coincide with the line move. But knowing percent of bets makes it easier to spot sharp money moves (RLM).

I get the whole "Faces, not Dollars" scenario, but in the long run, money talks because squares betting big money won't have that money for long and the sharps have more staying power.

Cris/Bookmaker is totally over rated in terms of "sharp lines"...i see weak ass lines there all the time, and am 99% sure they move on money where pinny would just set the line back to where it was.

I agree. "cris" and "sharp lines" should not be mentioned in the same sentence. Years ago they absolutely were sharp, those times have passed.

I think you are highly underestimating how much money is bet by recreational bettors/whales and how many of them there are in the U.S. . I know a small town New England bookie that takes up to 500k bets for NFL.

I was looking at their olympic betting last night and some weird numbers there. According to them, they only got bets on the favorites and two longshots in one of the track and field ones I was looking at. Everything else was blank.

Well actually maybe the pseudo-sharps are (myself included, I bet over 7 wins -130) because very very few sharps bet over on any win total ever

There is always a high % on the biggest shit odds available...like Redsox today -210 and -200, either there are a lot of dumbfukks betting at BM or these numbers are made up.
