think it was a desperate move to try and match the Greinke deal. but in all honesty with Colby Lewis being shelved for the year and Yu Darvish and Harrison getting smacked around, they had to do SOMETHING.
any word what they gave up?

Kyle Hendricks (RHP) and Christian Villanueva (3B). Both pretty solid prospects. Hendricks having a really good season. Villaneuva is a top 100 prospect. Both very young, like 21 or 22, and a couple years off, but certainly project.

dempster wont be effective in AL...also texas is a pitcher's nightmare. Dempster should have chosen LA if he wanted a big contract.
Texas still wont make it to world series...coz I think Angels are the best team in baseball right now.

for what texas gave up, it's a great deal. at worst, he'll pitch well on the road and no worse than .500 in texas.

Absolutely. If it gives them a 2% better chance to win a title then it's worth it, even if they gave up a couple good prospects that could help in a few years. You have to do what it takes to win now when you have a chance.

No, I know nothing about them.
What I do know, is that the Rangers are totally stacked. How nice must it be that you have 2 minor league kids that are so can't miss future stars that you are unwilling to discuss moving them for anyone. Even a couple of former Cy Young winners.
The Rangers are going to be very good for a very long time.
