No chance of Paterno being vindicated until the trials of the other 2 start. If they both testify that they kept details from Joe, that would be a huge admission. The Freeh report lacks any evidence as to what Paterno knew, so hopefully we hear the truth/see real evidence at the trials.
It seems equally plausible that JoePa genuinely was kept out of the loop as to what was going on as it does that he actively covered it up. He obviously should have done more though, that's indisputable.

They better start hiding assets. Turning a blind eye to a child molester is despicable. The best thing his family can do is shut up and disappear. His legacy will be similar to OJ's. On field accomplishments erased by him being a little scumbag.

Yup. I hope the victims get enough to provide for their children and put the rest of the money towards abused children shelters.

All involved should lose their state pensions and money put towards taking care of abused kids.

In all fairness, Triponey was a nutjob. She wanted complete control over the discipline of the football team, even though she wasn't hired for anything related to sports. She tried to suspend a player for the season because of a prank call he made to an old coach. She also claimed Joe Paterno influenced criminal investigations of players, when a fellow official (who is now a district court judge) directly disputed those claims, saying Paterno did no such thing.
She's just a narcissistic control freak, which is ironically exactly what she accused Paterno of being. Look up the "Triponey timeline of terror" if you want more details

If the Living Paterno family doesn't shut up and stop reacting they will all end up being homeless. Stop trying to protect Joe. He wished "He" had done more, and the Paterno's act like he was an innocent bystander.

what your dad did for Penn State or the young men you recruited to the program
someone in his employ was raping a 10 year old
the more he runs his mouth the more you know this was discussed around the Paterno Kitchen table

I do remember hearing about that woman though and wanting someone kicked off the team for a prank phone call.
Down in SEC country, you can shoot a kid and you'll still suit up next Saturday.
But in all seriousness, the University of Tennessee actively recruited and accepted a player who was convicted of raping his 13 year old cousin with a broom handle at age 15.
Lack of morality in college athletics isn't a new thing. If *my* school had any integrity, they'd tell that kid to go fukk himself, regardless of the talent he had.

Not a Penn State fan at all. If I root for any B10 school, its MSU.
Its nice to see how easily manipulated you are by one incredibly biased article, though. It should be pretty obvious that Triponey is one of those people who think sports have no business in a college environment and hates the popularity they have. Don't take my word though, go look into it. Look into the shit she tried to pull. She was called out as a liar by a frickin district judge who worked at the same level as her in her accusations against Paterno

Guy did nothing wrong legally (at least according to NY law I know), so what is the big deal. You wanna live somewhere that criminalizes non-reporting other criminal activity and I say go fukk yourself. I don't substitute my morals for anothers and I'm glad our governments don't either.
Get with it.

First of all let me say I'm a Pitt fan and would like nothing more than to see Penn State get the death penalty, that being said . Where was all the national media, where was outside the lines, in 2001 the police investigated, child warfare investigated they did nothing! Now everyone wants to bury the greatest football coach to ever live, that's right ever! For doing what? For not wanting to believe that a friend and college for over thirty years was such a monster and could be capable of such things, put yourself in joes shoes, He said I wish I would have done more. How many times in your life will you look back and say I wish I would've done that different? Hind sights 20/20 and Nobody new then what they know now. And my belief in human nature makes me want to believe that. And if I'm wrong I hope they close the doors to penn state forever.

According to a report requested by Penn State officials, Joe Paterno lied when he told a grand jury he didn't know Jerry Sandusky molested a boy in 1998. by R. Cort Kirkwood

I meant in his handling of the sex abuse. Perjury is illegal. However, he will never be indicted on this im sure.

I hope your neighbors turn you in for stealing cable, or for registering a car where it isnt, or for cheating you taxes (gambling income?!?!). A world where legal liability attaches for failure to report a crime is a scary world.
I didnt say someone shouldnt report due to some moral obligation, just that the legal standard is as strong as I am comfortable with.
The Freeh report makes a LOT of assumptions. They specifically say in the report that they don't know what was communicated to Paterno, just that he requested updates through Curley (I think it was Curley, could've been one of the others). For the "most powerful guy on campus who knew everything" and who "closely followed the investigation", you'd think he would at least talk directly to the lead investigator/cop to get information, and not rely on a 3rd party. The report admits to not knowing what Paterno had knowledge of.
Like I've said before, the truth can't come out until the other 3 leaders can be put on trial and only then is there a chance of finding out who knew what. Maybe JoePa knew everything and actively covered it up, maybe he was kept in the dark. The Freeh report does nothing to change information.
