Lots of truth to this statement

    Its all about seizing power

They use political party platforms to get votes in order to obtain that power

    Its all a power grab

GOP opposes spending unless they are the ones controlling the purse strings and diverting the money flow

Both parties LOVE spending because its what keeps them in power

They payoff their political buddies and special interests

THEN go back to their district and point to their pork projects and say "LOOK WHAT I DID FOR YOU ALL!"

They get re-elected and the cycle continues

The only way to fix this country is to enact term limits and drastically reduce politician pay.

Career politicians are what is ruining this country

When the key to re-election is spending taxpayer dollars, its a messed up system

Politicians are meant to serve, not be served

I don't see that as helpful at all. If you reduce politician pay you simply make it so now only already rich people can afford to be in office(which already mostly happens), that does nothing to prevent political corruption. In fact it could and probably would have the exact opposite effect as poor politicians would be more susceptible to being bribed.

Term limits may have some merit, but corruption happens very fast in Washington. Even having to run for one reelection would ensure that those in power would still do their best to maintain their power for their term limits.

The key to reelection is both spending taxpayer money, but also having people spend money on your behalf. That's why we need a constitutional amendment effectively overturning Citizens United. This isn't a left right thing, this is about the idea that unlimited campaign contributions are possible, by supports of both sides. This ensures that the ones who get the laws they want are the ones who can afford to contribute to campaign coffers, be they big business, or big labor, or any other special interest group, as long as they have deep enough pockets.

That didn't work too well. Wasn't that the mantra last election, to get rid of incumbents? Now we have Teabags
signing pledges and acting like babies when they don't get their way. My vote won't reflect children.
