I'm on heavy tilt right now , need advices .
So .. I'll try to do it quickly . I got from a friend 40$ at the start of the week . I went on a good run and gave him back those 40$ .
Untill yesterday things went really good , and yesterday I went on tilt because I hedged some bet , and I shouldnt hedge it .. so right after the match ended I threw 400$ on some shit games like .. Divison2 on spanish soccer , some shit I have no idea about , just to have action on it and try to chase losses .
So my situation right now I have 0$ at my BR .

    BUT
I have those 3 pending bets , that are gonna end tommorow :

    Serena Williams for 328.99$
    Federer for 180$
and CSKA to win the final for 175.19$

So no matter what happens I end this week atleast not lossing , Im pretty sure Im gonna hit 2 atleast if not all , but the thing is , Im really afraid I'm gonna ruin everything and **** all the profits because my brain is ****** up.
Yesterday I lost control again . cost me 400$ , so , If i'll not control my mind again until tommorow i'll probably loss everything and it can get alot worse .

And please , leave the stupid comments away .

Honestly. Take a whole week off. You'll be fresh and your mind will think straight. Your nerves will settle down as well. Then start over again.

You're been "ruining everything" with your gambling every week for the past three years, Moyal. Either admit to yourself and the rest of us that this feeling of despair is the real reason you gamble, or find yourself a new damned hobby.

Whining to strangers like this over something you do every few days is beyond pathetic.

The issue is simple mental issues. The solution is even simpler.

                    Cash out, walk away, done.

Or, throw ONLY $20 on Lakers 1h, keep the ticket, walk away. Mail the ticket if it cashes, if you care.

Damn shame of it all that this is subliminally why a lot of degens are degens. Need the highs and lows a lot more than they need the cash.

So , I just finished talk with my parents before I'll shit the bed again , I had to do it .
Each time I talk to someone let me feel better , so I feel pretty good right now.
The bad thing is that I involed them with my own shit , and I feel pretty mad at myself about it .

Decieded with them I'm gonna cash tommorow , going to leave around 150$-250$ .
I hope to hit all those 3 so the withdraw will be around 400$ .

The damn shame is that the underlying cause is so obvious, and yet the solution still so far from the grasp of most of us. These degens are looking to activate the oldest, most fundamental part of our brain: the limbic system, more specifically the amygdala. What does the amygdala influence in us, you ask? The processing and memory of emotional responses, sexual orientation and libido, social interaction, substance abuse and our overall ability to feel pleasure. Gee, doesn't that sound like the laundry list for common SBR-izen dysfunctions?

These poor bastards, like Moyal and Brock Landers, that we see flailing about year after year, they're just throwbacks to a time when human life was naturally full of a lot more struggles and triumphs. They were meant to be living in the Middle Ages, scraping by as a vassal to some feudal Lord or engaged as foot-soldiers in some Army, faced with death and the risk of ruin on a regular basis. In order to function optimally, they need those frequent swings from defeat to victory and back again. The Modern Age simply has nothing to offer in comparison to that, our struggles are much more subtle and our ruinous events are often tied to losing all our money and not our lives.

That's why these guys have to gamble to feel alive, that risk of losing everything is the only thing scary enough to get their neurotransmitters flowing and make them feel alive short of committing capital crimes and risking the death penalty. Human history being such a reliable cycle, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. In every occasion where the nature of human life shifts drastically, there have always been those that can't manage the adaptation. Centuries ago, it would only last a generation or two due to the effects that struggling to survive has on reproduction/attractiveness to potential mates. Now, sadly, it drags on for many generations thanks to the welfare state and its unintended side effect of propping up those who simply aren't well suited to the times in which they live.

Personally, I pray that neuropharmacology finds a treatment for them soon, because it's absolutely disgusting to watch them live like that, and it's likely to be the real underpinning of the global recession that we'll be mired in until a solution is found.

                                            Great read.

Any solution found will be quickly dismissed as heresy and or subversive. Those that have foster this weakness any way they can. They do not in turn have to realize their own agendas. The human race will gladly do that for them.

Very interesting read. I agree with you, for many including me gambling produces the significant emotional swings that are otherwise missing in our lives. I'm not sure I agree with the analogy with a medieval vassal though, if they didn't fight for their lord when asked they would be thrown off their land

Wouldn't that put one's survival/livelihood into jeopardy, Centaur? That was the only comparison I wished to draw.

Maybe I misunderstood your post, I was under the impression that you felt those vassals enjoyed the emotional swings of the life and death of warfare like problem gamblers get off on the huge swings, except those vassals really had no choice in their way of life and would have loved to never have to put their life on the line for their lord.

No, my point was that the people on those lowest rungs of the medieval ladder were often confronted with the hardest of choices (death or loss of livelihood and shelter), and that their brains adapted to handle such a harsh reality. Since the Industrial Revolution, at least in the Western world, those situations have been all but eliminated. Those like Moyal that are holdovers to such times probably go through modern life feeling numb, almost never confronted with anything that truly gets their heart racing until they find gambling. There they can simulate catastrophe by betting more than they can afford and losing.

I bring this up because for three years now, we've watched Moyal go through the same cycle of overdrawing his bank accounts to gamble himself into the ground, to the point where he's risking a criminal investigation for check fraud. He loses it all, freaks out and looks for sympathy in chat and threads like this one, then spends a few months paying it back, only to do the exact same thing as soon as he's clear of danger.

In attempting to ascertain why, it occurred to me that we all crave some risk in our lives to varying degrees, and win or lose there is typically a euphoria involved. Either you win and "beat the odds" or you lose and are reminded of the tenuous nature of your existence through the consequences of your loss. Some people, like Moyal, Brock Landers, or even Patty Venditto, need to take it much further than most though. They have to get much closer to losing it all in order to feel anything from the activity, and I posit that's because their brains are wired for a much harder life than the one they're living.

JJ. Does SBR give any help to a guy like that? I know it is in your best interests to promote gaming in any way possible but when a guy is in a hole do we in any way try to take the shovel out of his hands? I haven't seen that but you would obviously know more about that than I would.
