    What's your presidential voting history?
Like to see people's rundowns over the years. I'll start:

    1988: Bush/Quayle
    1992: Bush/Quayle
    1996: Clinton/Gore
    2000: Bush/Cheney
    2004: Kerry/Edwards

My vote for Bush 43 was more a vote against Al Gore. I wanted to vote for the Democrats that year. But when Gore, after defending Clinton for months and saying the media was making up the Lewinsky affair, then when Clinton admitted he lied, Gore said "I'm proud of him."

Proud of him for admitting an affair with an intern? Nice, Al. I still recall Gore was in Hawaii when he said that and no way I was voting for him.

Republican since 1976. Ive got my absentee ballot here in my hand for this election, and Im finding it very difficult to make the marks for any candidate. Thought Id wait and see the debate tonight and make a decision then, but this bailout issue has really left a bad taste in my mouth.

At this point in time, the only 2 reasons I can even come up with for voting would be to protect my 2nd amendment rights, and to stop an inheritance tax, so if thats the best reasons I can come up with to vote I gotta go with McCain. I dont trust Obama when it comes to the rights of gun owners, and Obama has already said he favored an inheritance tax, JMO.

I'm just 27 so my history is short, but when I was in high school I was a member of the Young Republicans. I assisted on the '96 Dole campaign, posting signs and making "Get Out The Vote" calls. But since I've been registered it's been:

      2000: Bush/Cheney
      2004: Bush/Cheney

we should start voting like they do on american idol, have a live debate bring out all the nominees, call in as many votes as you can in 2 hours, and each week send one of them home.
        PRESIDENTIAL IDOL!!!

i mean does it really matter? every 4 years it's picking between giant douche and turd sandwich. its a waste of fvcking time.
in the mean time the rest of government is spending beyond our means, getting their ass licked by lobbyists, and never being held accountable. reelected again and again.
who fvckin cares between douche and turd, when the system is rigged against us. its a shared monopoly of political agendas. dems vs reps, everyone is fooled into picking sides, is this really the way the free world should work?

A pox on both your houses.

Worked at the Houston offices for Nixon's re-election campaign in 1972. Mainly phone banks, and the only reason I did it is I had the hots for this little Rice University co-ed that was working there. Pretty much have hated politicians ever since. She got married, divorced and remarried, is a grandmother now and is about as big around as I am.

          1972: Nixon
          1976: Ford
          1980: Reagan
          1984: Reagan
          1988: GHW Bush
          1992: Perot
          1996: Perot
          2000: Nader
          2004: Nader

            1992: HW Bush
            1996: Dole
2000: No vote - wanted 'none of the above'
            2004: Kerry/Edwards

To be honest, I've always flat voted Republicans. Around 2000 I started to see the shift - issues that have no place in politics came to the forefront. I didn't vote for a president in 2000 due to both being unfit.
Then I voted Dem in 2004 for the first time in my life. Prior to that, the ONLY dems I ever voted for were Senators Dodd and Lieberman of CT.
I since have left the Republican party and will not ever vote for a Republican until they get back to their core values. Sure there's a lot of them I like, but on principle - until they stop supporting the Rove machine and the neocon agenda - then I cannot support them. Looks like I'm voting for lots of Libertarians and Dems this time around. Sad how Dems seem more right than the right at the moment.

In retrospect, I feel really really dumb for not voting for Gore - I let the spin machine get me. I hated Clinton for lying, making up rules as he went in that regard and being a bad role model for the nation - not to mention the credit card economy he started that is coming home to roost as we speak. Thinking about it now, I was still unfit to see beyond the bullshit mentally - I think in terms of being something I don't want in a President - getting blown isn't a big deal, in fact it should be encouraged! However, sending off friends, family and neighbors to die in Iraq is a much much deeper and more serious issue. I hope those issues become the important ones this election rather than a blowjob.

I also don't think gun laws and other important personal freedoms are in play this time around - another reason I dont mind not voting Republican. In fact - the Republicans are slowly turning this into a communist state, and that's a bigger deal to me.

Straight Democratic ticket since Walter Mondale in 1984, may skip voting for the 1st time this election.

We must be about the same age, Slew, as I started voting in '88 as well.

                  2000: Gore/Lieberman (D)
                  2004: Bush/Cheney (R)
                  2008: McCain/Palin (R)

Not sure which one is which jtuck, but I would always choose a sandwich over a douche. But that's just me.

Registered Independent since i turned 18 in 91'

                          92- Clinton
                          96- Clinton
                          00- Gore
04- Bush (this was more of a vote to see how far he could fu*k-up the country. he got us in a mess and i wanted to see how deep in a hole he could alienate us from the rest of the world.)

as much as i liked Perot and Nader's ideas, and me being an Independent, i just look at it like wasting my vote, the Dems or Repubs are going to win, so my vote better go for the side i like that has a fighting chance.
