Just got a phone call that a group of dealers and table supervisors were all fired and arrested by cops/gaming control in Vegas for collusion with a few gamblers they were helping win large amounts at the tables at Flamingo. Don't have all the details but it sounds like they were doing it for some time and the cameras built up the case. Players cuffed as well.

#4Card counting and chip scams always happen. Employees cheating to make money for themselves is a big no-no. Curious if it makes papers. Surveillance spends more time keeping watch on employees than players, as they are bigger thiefs. Can't allow your place to get beat by employee theft. My guess is some funds get recovered, the employees all lose their gaming cards and a ringleader gets prosecuted. The players get put on trespass list for entire state.Originally posted by soul786So when we get scammed its all good but when THEY get scammed...

#6Player stacking higher denom chips on winning bets while dealer not paying attention. Happens a lot on roulette and blackjack with casinos cutting back in labor and asking supervisors to watch 6 or 7 tables at a time. Doesn't help with all of the inexperienced dealers working.Originally posted by rm18whats a chip scam?Comment -

#10I don't think so Houli. Employee theft is usually swept under rug. You live in Vegas? Did the paper ever report about Cannery slot mgr who skimmed over 200k? The group of slot techs at Orleans or Gold Coast that ran a wire to a machine in their shop and were printing tickets that totaled over 1/2 mil? The slot techs at Venetian that were playing promo vouchers and cashing in winnings and walking out with them? The book writer at Rio who used his company bank to place bets and lost 40k? The slot sup at Paris who was writing up manual jackpots and fake W2's and walking with the cash? These stories usually just circulate throughOriginally posted by HoulihansTXBest believe it will make press. Casinos love to let every know that they are not to be messed with. #13I'm a blackjack dealer in Ca and there is some other kinda scam going around where the dealer lets the player who cuts on baccarat, some how use the cut card to riffle the entire shoe enough for a camera of some sort (maybe under sleeve of cutting hand) scan the cards and the players know the entire shoe outcome. When we end each shoe now we have to have the floor call surveillance and let them know that we are shuffling.
Crazy almost all the scams I hear about at casinos involved employees. I don't get how the stupid ass dealers feel it is worth the risk to not ever be able to deal/work at another casino ever again.Comment -

#17It's crazy because there is no way I would ever even think about doing something that would jeopardize working in table games. I would never want to do any hard labor to make less money. These people don't think about the future they just think about the now and that they won't get caught. U NEVER know when the eye in the sky is looking or will rewind to look. People are just so dumb.Originally posted by Grits n' GravyGreed. 90% of time I had to go review tapes it was for an employee doing something bad.Comment -

#24It is true. More often than not they just lose gaming card and then it is up to gaming control and cops. The casinos sometimes go after them if insurance doesn't cover the losses.Originally posted by jjgoldWell if true they are done and buried

#32Grits, please keep us updated if you find out more about this. I'm going to ask around but I don't know anybody who works in the Flamingo. This kind of shit always intrigues me.
Not completely true. When the graveyard shift employees at the P Ho poker room got caught stealing the jackpot money (100% of which gets returned to the poker players) they had the book thrown at them.Originally posted by soul786So when we get scammed its all good but when THEY get scammed...
On the other hand, I'm friends with a floor at a small poker room in town and they caught a dealer palming red chips out of 1/2NL games. He got fired and '86d, but no criminal charges were pressed... the cops weren't even informed. So it cuts both ways.
I'm not familiar with any of these, but there was a scam when the Venetian first opened where employees were rigging huge raffle drawings that were meant for high rollers. I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to.Originally posted by Grits n' GravyI don't think so Houli. Employee theft is usually swept under rug. You live in Vegas? The best one I've heard that was kept out of the public eye was a degen floor at the Hard Rock poker room who would steal from the drawer, walk 30 yards to the pit and martingale bet at the craps table. He kept getting away with it until the inevitable bad streak that caused him to martingale away the whole poker bank. Security never even noticed.Comment -

#34Very true. I've been in a surveillance room and their main focus is the table games. Several big monitors with the pit on them, and the rest of the property camera feeds just rotating on a handful of screens. Everything recorded though.Originally posted by Grits n' GravySurveillance spends more time keeping watch on employees than playersComment -

#35Ian- I was at Venetian when the raffle rigging occurred. It was so stupid. They wanted the Chinese guy who won the Mercedes to feel lucky since he had lost 4.5 mil that week. Instead of just giving him one, they pulled his name from jar. They reasoned he wouldn't accept a gift. We suggested giving him 20% discount on losses. They said no. We told the Rob it was going to bite us in ass and the property GM, Mike French, and a few marketing and special event peeons eventually lost their careers over it when someone blew the whistle. The decision came from the top but French ended up taking the fall and was untouchable in Vegas. Think he went to New Mexico to run a small casino.Comment
