Yes, there is a bigger ripoff. Just to name ONE bigger ripoff is the way my school (and I assume all schools) handle textbooks.

    The basic cycle is this:

Accounting Professor at UT writes a book with like 4 other guys, insists that book is used to teach all accounting courses in that particular sub section and then makes it a hard back book and sells it for $160 and requires every student buys it. One year later, they make tiny changes to it and release a hard back second edition. Because of this, students can't even sell it back and then the next year students can only buy the new version at the full price, no used discounts.

Repeat this process like 10 times.
Ah yes the college textbook racket. It's not a bad idea to open a small books store near a university selling and buying back textbooks.

The main problem is american law does not allow these guys to do their thing. so they operate casinos in the shadows. and are hard to get at.

or they are a solid book, but you have to make $500 minimum withdrawls if ur a american.and or get charged out the but.

like on intertops. i deposit $100 on thankgiving to wager on the NFL games. Sbr's john ryan gave away freepick. gb under and play a bit in their casino. i won $120. good i'm happy. go to withdrawal $75 fee for us citizens.

      wtf?

So basically there isn't a watchdog so books run their rip off casinos anyway they wish.

I'm glad to give them back their useless points, but if, as you say, those points have value (apparently they can now be bought by players outside of the US!), then a change in the setting of the game, without announcing it, could be considered theft.

Just imagine a Vegas casino where the setting of the game could be changed. That would be a huge scandal. But for online casinos that's the standard. A total lack of integrity across the board.
excuse me attached to thread above.

I've heard the Aussie books have online casinos which are legit. Anyone know if this is true?

Probably a good thing for me although I'd like to think I'd have enough discipline to stay away. Online poker and live betting online are illegal too. You can get around it if you find sites willing to take Aussie customers. Poker sites just ignore the laws for the most part but that's why you'll often see Aussies bitching about having to call live bets in. It's like the government picks and chooses what Australians can handle, considering we have poker machines in basically every pub you walk into, as well as actual casinos. Doesn't make much sense.

I agree that it doesn't make sense. It's like government says it's alright to gamble one way but another is illegal. If they would just legalize it already it would work out for everyone. Generating income, stop criminalizing people taking part in it as well as cleaning up all the scams in the gambling world. Surely they'll eventually make it legal. Question is when.

Maybe I was thinking about European books then. They have online casinos which are regulated. Therefore they are fair.
