Russell Martin is a bigger signing than Liriano. Liriano has been unreal, don't get me wrong, but Martin is even better. He's changed everything about this teams pitching gameplan.

Although Marte is out, for what they have to work with, the Pirates lineup looks pretty nice today. Byrd in the 4th slot between McCutchen and Alvarez. Good spot for him tonight.

Wandy Rodriguez back from the dead and not needing Tommy John surgery with toss 3 playoff innings for the Indianapolis Indians in an international league playoff game today.

I don't expect much.

but if the Indians make it to the final series he has a chance to get stretched out to 5 innings. Best case scenario is pitches lights out for 3 games down there (unlikely( and he is put on the playoff roster as a long man/swing guy

Pirates Magic number to clinch the last wild card vs Wash is 4 games.

can the Pirates go 2-7 or worse?

can the Nats go 8-1 or better (they do have 3 games vs the cards)

Most amazing event I've ever attended. Absolutely ELECTRIC. Voice is gone. Not sure how it translated to TV, but at one point the crowd had Johnny Cueto so frazzled he dropped the damn baseball. CUE-TO CUE-TO!

I recorded the replay and will get to watch it tonight. It's a shame that TBS didn't broadcast the opening ceremonies and National anthem. Those first 10 minutes were probably the most intense and amazing moments of the night. I have never in my life been to a sporting event where the fans were like this. Morgantown WV is well known for it's fan intensity and atmosphere, but it doesn't come close to touching last night. Been to Cowboys game at Texas Stadium.....not remotely close.

I've been a season ticket holder of the Pirates for 8 years, a Pirates fan since I was 6 (now 32)......this was all foreign to me. I am still on a bit of a high.

Yea Cowboys stadium was a disappointment as far as intensity goes. Fans were there more for the spectacle and less for the game.

Damn I didn't realize how well Kelly pitched against Pittsburgh this season. Think they need to rough him up early. If he settles in, this is going to be a tight game that might be won very late. Can't wait.
