If you're a scammer/shot taker, it's a gold mine - they keep raising my credit line like I'm Shari Cash which shows they don't check anything.

You could probably get 30k credit if you wanted it. Very weird system here. I didn't ask for a credit line, it just started to appear. I remember being on the phone with Deuce, Apricot Sinner and maybe even JJ one day when I had asked them to drop my credit line down because I was worried about hackers but instead they jacked it up more. Not normal. I'm used to N. America where you need to show your driver's licence just to rent a vid from Blockbuster. Here it's like a free for all.

haha. They don't offer credit based on how sharp they think you are. They've already limited me on NBA TT's and dropped me to like $63 on everything else. They just offer it if they think you've got the cash to repay. Only thing I can bet big on now is horses which would never happen.

Are you saying you didn't need to provide any details (ID, income etc...) to get the credit started? You are obviously trusted, it sounds like a CC and in particular ANZ who without warning jack up your limit if you have made a few payments back onto your card.

They would've had my ID from verifying my account when I first opened it. But no, I never sent anything in or gave any extra info. I've been saying this to people for ages, which is why I assume jj made this thread today. I remember at one point getting a call and my son was like 4 days old and in intensive care. Bloody Centrebet calls me to say they were raising my limit yet again and I was like yeah whatever, kind of have more important things to deal with. And they just keep upping it although I can't even really use it unless I wanted to go all in on Black Caviar I guess. But they can't collect. That's the thing... they outsource to some sort of agency if you stiff them but the credit system is so different here that it won't hurt you because you have so many excuses when it's gambling related. (Learnt that from a friend who works at Sportingbet).

That sounds retarded that they can't collect! So basically they give you credit, you can't repay in any way direct to them and they get paid back by the player paying to a debt collection agency?? That's the way I am understanding it, sorry if I've got it all wrong! Then you could say you can't pay the debt collectors and you apply for bankruptcy which is a very easy process but then you will be lucky to get out of the country! If all that happened wouldn't you lose your account?
verifying accounts here is a big deal, no? it is hard to fake.
and bankruptcy is not nice, especially for a few dimes. if it can be shown that u did it on purpose, ie took credit and maxed out cards and such and then declared urself bankrupt, u can be prosecuted for fraud.
if it is not done well, as in u let them make u bankrupt, it is possible they will come to ur house and take ur tv and computer and anything else they want... it is not a winning prop.

Yeah that's not the case here. Not even sure that's the case in the US to be honest.
As far as collection, you're supposed to have your account in a positive balance or at least zero every Monday. But they're also loose on that because people have outstanding bets, etc. Once you hit 4-6 weeks of a negative balance, they start sending you the "you're going to collection" emails. Just like a CC company. Difference is that gambling addiction is so widespread/acknowledged in Aus that it's very hard to prosecute so they don't bother. They just flip you to that collection company who will harass you for awhile but nothing is done. You don't declare bankruptcy, it doesn't affect your ability to get credit elsewhere, etc... That's why I've been saying it's a pretty lax system. I don't condone that behaviour but they need to fix their stuff up because they open themselves to shot takers galore.

I'd fly to Austrailia but I don't want to end up on an island like Lost... actually, if the island includes a girl that looks like Kate, I'll take it.
