Louisville Is The Nation's Top Television Market For College Basketball (By A Lot)
According to statistics released by ESPN, Louisville is again the top television market for college basketball, and the rest of the country isn't all that close.

From November 11, 2011 through February 12, 2012 for all men's college basketball games on ESPN (a total of 93 games), Louisville stands as the top men's college basketball viewing market (of 56 metered markets nationwide).

According to Nielsen, Louisville retained the top spot from 2010-11 and has increased its rating five percent (4.4 to 4.6). The city doubles the rating of the No. 6 market, Charlotte, which has averaged a 2.3 rating thus far.

    The top five markets are:

    1. Louisville (4.6).
    2. Greensboro-High Point (3.5).
    3. Columbus (2.9).
    4. Kansas City (2.7).
    5. Raleigh-Durham (2.6).

Louisville has also dominated the United States in ratings during the NCAA Tournament in recent years.

I mean, what else can you say? The city just gets it.

If you really love college basketball, there's no better place to live during this time of the year.

Not a surprise that the NCAA picked the top 3 on that list for NCAA Tournament sites this year (plus nearby Dayton for the 1st round) -- guaranteed sellouts no matter who's playing!

Louisville is lucky that Morehead St. won't be in the tournament this year.

Also top 2 in terms of revenue.

unfortunately for the players that go there, they don't make the cut for top 20 top earning schools for ball players.

            Arizona on the other hand.....

Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, and Greensboro-High Point are all in North Carolina, just spread out a little bit across the state. If it was broken down by state then NC would crush Kentucky into the shit hole that it is.

Louisville doesn't have shit on Tobacco Road, and it's not even close.

Actually for nobody outside the city of Louisville actually giving a shit about the school, the cards have a pretty nice little following. Yum Center looks nice on TV, I actually hate Rupp Arena and want a new arena instead of just upgrades to Rupp.

I would assume the ratings are high because of Kentucky Wildcats basketball? not because of Louisville right? I mean it helps that Pitino and Calipari are in the news everyday for a scandal of some sort also

Columbus would be the only surprise that's not Higher on op's list but it is a football town. Outside of Vegas and a couple pockets in Cali every city larger has pro sports.

acc hoops is so big in the triangle that they show it on cbs in prime time, not on espn.
they preempt the prime time cbs lineup to show fsu/vatech, that is why espn rating is lower here
i am sure the rating for acc games here is much higher than in l'ville
