But I can't bet on a real sporting event over the internet or phone in a wager even to Vegas if I wanted to.

This occurred to me last evening when I was in the gym working out. I happen to glance out the window and there is a big billboard saying "Wanna Bet" It ended up being an advertisement to a horse track on the outskirts of Indianapolis.

So, opinions aside, why is it OK for me to go to the horse track in Indianapolis and lose money an animals that I can't tell one from ther other, but I can't log on from my home office and do the same thing.

What gives with this? The actual reasons according to the bald fatties in D.C.. They have to have some kind of explanation. because, the act like all this internet gambling should be illeagal and barred because they always want to protect us from ourselves. What is the difference. I suppose with a little more effort in driving to the track, I can lose just as much and the money laundering argument which is a joke in itself still applies.

Explain? And I know it's not just in Indy, I think anyone can go anywhere in the country and bet on horses.

Don't think there is a sound or logical answer to that, Great One.. At least I'm certain there isn't a good argument that will be accepted as resonable by those of us here who enjoy betting recreationally or professionally.

All I can refer you to is the response I got from my US Rep, Lamar Smith, District 21, Texas. I've been corresponding with him since moving into this district full-time four years ago. And when I asked him about his support for the Leach Bill, his main reason was the old "we gotta' protect the children" crapola.

Here's a LINK to a thread here at SBR where I recorded his full response about the Leach Bill. Congressman Smith is the 'IT Guru' in the house as the chair for the Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property. Maybe if you and I were in charge, we could get something worked out with a whole lot less forked-tongue action
