Didn't it just happen in the Giants Falcons game?

I was being sarcastic with the "idiot" stuff (OP called him an idiot)

It's pretty clear this guy doesn't gamble much and it's safe to say he's got all the dough he needs, hence can laugh last at any "sharp" who knows more than he does. Some knowledge isn't really worth that much.

He didnt just bet on safety he bet on giants safety. Should be 250-1
Its even worse than that. It was 1st scoring play of game NE Safety.
The bet was the first team to score would score on a safety , the numbers were way off....
How is it that nobody in this thread actually understands what the bet actually was?

The TICKET itself was posted, yet nobody got it right.

C'mon, like I mentioned in the other post. Taxes would have made this win not as enjoyable. So this rich "idiot" is going for the 50K charity write off, instead of paying a majority of his winnings to the government and not benefiting that much. His other monies got a huge break on this win, and on top of it, some charity got some $$ too.

          Smart kid afterall.

TMZ – Just when you wanted to hate the guy for winning $50,000 on a freak Super Bowl bet — Giants fan Jona Rechnitz tells TMZ, he’s donating every last cent to multiple charities … INCLUDING one of Tom Brady‘s choice. In case you didn’t know, Jona — who runs a successful real estate company in New York — hit the JACKPOT yesterday, betting $1,000 on the Giants to score the first points in the big game with a safety. The odds were 50 to 1. Jona tells us, he plans to donate $5,000 to Tom’s charity of choice, and $5,000 to the charities of choice for the Giants defensive linemen who made the safety play. Jona also wants to take Tom out for an all-expenses-paid falafel dinner. As for the rest, Jona says he plans to divide up the balance after taxes … and donate it to a bunch of charities benefiting the less fortunate. Jona says he only makes one bet a year — on the Super Bowl — and this year, it finally paid off.

                                Dude's an Idiot.

If JJGold was to take the Denver Nuggets tonight against Dallas at -1 with -300 juice for 5k and win, you would call him an idiot easily. Despite him profiting $1,600 for taking bad odds. Had JJGold looked around, he might had gotten the Nuggets at -1 with -110 Juice for 5k and made $4,500 for making the exactly same kind of bet.

If that idiot had any kind of brains he would of shopped around, and more likely found better odds in the 100-1 to 250-1 range. The points is, the guy placed a terrible bet to begin with. Then to top it off, he didn't even get the best odds possible

50-1 odds is equivalent to you doing a six team parlay. Most of us will probably hit several 6 team parlay first, before we see a safety be the first score, in the NFL, Canadian football, College , Arena, or XFL. Whether it's Pre season, Regular season, or the Playoffs again

That would have been a sharp bet to make at those odds if it was just for a NE safety during the game.

Curious - a safety was the first score in TWO postseason games. Was a safety the first score in any regular season game this season - I doubt it. Very fluky that it could happen once much less twice in a span of a few weeks.

Sounds like the dude just wanted a little action on the game, probably so at SB Party he could say he had money on the game.Sounds like a good dude, most of us would just blow it and then the rest we would gamble away.

It wasnt as stupid a bet as most of you morons think. If you saw the line for who is gonna kickoff it was Patriots -290 Giants +240. It was 99% that the Giants were getting the ball first(why? do the research) so he basically figured that and that they would probably not score on their first drive and punt and if it was a good punt a safety would be possible. If youre a high roller thats a great bet. I wish I wouldve came to that conclusion too but I was already risking so much on the kickoff. btw I made a thread about the kickoff so if any1 followed

It was a stupid bet moron. It isn't stupid that he bet on the safety, it is stupid that he got only 50-1 odds. He should have at least had 100-1 odds, but even higher for a team specific safety.

I saw safety as first score of a game as +200, and that was for either team.

That is like betting the Giants to win at -500 or something like that.
