How do you deal with going on tilt, losing, chasing, and losing again
I'm normally a disciplined bettor but I broke my cardinal rule today in a fit of anger, went large on Creighton, lost, doubled up on Murray State & lost again.

I've never chased before like this and honestly it's kind of a rush but I hate it at the same time. Anxiety, heart palpitations, sweaty palms, empty pit in stomach, delusions of grandeur....I might as well be railing coke right now.

Now I'm set to double up yet again on a college basketball game (yet to be determined) Sunday. I feel like I might be losing control here especially if I lose again. How do you experienced guys cope with this shit?

Sounds like you are "Chasing the Dragon" Usually refers to drug addicts, but it can be applied to gambling as well. Wouldn't recommend you go all in today, but I know where you are coming from. Been there, done that. Good luck.

Thanks. How did you break the cycle? I've never felt mentally unstable like this. It pretty much IS a drug and I don't see how I can have peace of mind without chasing until I win.

No simple answer, lite. Your motivations are probably different from mine, but here goes:
My answer may change later, but for now I don't worry about the win or loss. It feels good to have a stake in the outcome. The high is in the anticipation. What keeps me from going all in is that I wouldn't be able to place another bet if I lose. I'd miss betting, so I always try to keep a stake. It didn't work out last month, so I worked a bunch of OT to get another stake.
"Don't bet what you can't lose" means always have your eye on the bet after next. Like chess, you know?

For one, I would not recommend mixing alcohol and gambling. Recipe for disaster. There's a reason why Vegas provides free/low priced drinks to their players. #2 I would reccommend using the points system here at SBR. Great way to stay in the game and not lose real cash. I am going to post up at a new book soon and become Pro. Still going to gamble, but now I mostly chase with points. Real disciplined betters do not chase, but I believe most bettors do. It's the nature of gambling, the pyscholgical factors that dooms a player in.

I use to have the same problem, every gambler does at one point.

The absolute best thing you can do, and what helped me 100% is take a vacation.

Not a few days off, but a REAL vacation. Book a 1 week all inclusive 5 star, and go and relax ALONE all week.

Don't bring any computers, gambling books, anything. Go where there are no tvs. Lay on the beach in some remote tropical island

and reflect on your life. Think about how its great you dont have to get up at 7am, drive in traffic for an hour, shave every day, wear stupid

office clothing and have to change 5x a week so you always gotta scramble for clean black socks, or some pants you didnt wear yesterday.

Seriously, when you understand the FREEDOM is worth everything, you will LEARN and APPRECIATE patience and discipline. When I lost my

roll i had to get a "real job" again. It was torture. After 3 months, i quit, gambled and when I started wavering i took a small 5 day vacation

to cuba and when I got back i was refreshed and vowed to never do it again and I have not since (chase, reckless). You MUST REMEMBER how you felt when you were broke. REMEMBER having no money and STRESSED. You can do it.

Log on to expedia or whatever, and book a 5-7 day vacation now.

Maybe check out a GA meeting and if you leave feeling it helped you need it, if you leave thinking its not necessary then you might be ok.

You have to go through that at least once to learn how to do it the right way.

Smoke a joint. After 5 minutes you will be relaxed and enlightened and able to pick 80% winners until the effects wear off - then just light up again. Worst case scenario, you are high! With a handle like yours, I have nothing but faith in you. The powers of pot will not let you down!

Sad but true, it can help you get back on your game if you are spinning out of control.
