I think it's hard to say guys like Roddick and Murray are under achievers in an Era with arguably two of the top three players to ever play [Federer & Nadal] and rapidly maybe with Djokovic's dominance ... three of the best players to EVER play the game in action all at the same time. Yes, Roddick did have about 4-5 years where Nadal and Djokovic weren't the players they are now on all surfaces, but he's had to go against Federer pretty much toe-to-toe during his whole career. Only a handful of players can say they've had success during that era.

Also with the way today's hard courts are set up so quick and all the power players ... there are more guys than ever who can dominate with a serve and run deep at the two hard court Slams.

I think if Roddick never won the US Open, people would think his career was pretty solid and not blink an eye. When he won a Slam, he got a Bull's Eye put on him as someone who should win more. Del Potro is going to have that same pressure.

I say Murray wins a few, he is too good not too

Good points about great players in Roddick's era.

Lendl always had tough opponents though and delivered and he should of won more majors than anyone or close to top. He was a chocker also but was so good he won 6 or 7 slams.

I really don't think Murray will ever win. Actually now with Lendl as his coach, I'd rate him a much higher chance.

Remember what I was telling you yesterday about Lendl and Murray in Brisbane when Lendl got pissed at the beginning of Brissie? Look at the part I bolded. He's being tough and not Judy'ing his sorry ass.

Lendl won his eight Grand Slams between 1984 and 1990 after losing his first four finals in an era featuring Stefan Edberg, Mats Wilander and Boris Becker.

And the Scot will pick the brains of the Czech-born American about how to beat the top players – and maybe add 80s-style spice to their friendly rivalries in the matches that matter.

Murray said: “I’m interested in talking to him about the matches he played, the rivals he had and how he found it playing against other guys.

“I want to know when he was going into a big match with one of them what he was thinking.

“It was pretty well known that him, Connors and McEnroe weren’t the best of friends and now it’s obviously a little bit different. A lot of the guys get on well with each other but you obviously need to put that to one side when you play against one another.”

Murray said Lendl’s availability throughout the year was the key to giving the 51-year-old his first coaching role.

“I’m not going to get the benefits from having Ivan this week,” he said. “I’m going to see it in six months, 12 months times when all the things we work on start falling into place.

“It’s obviously good to have someone with his experience around the Slams and these situations. But in terms of the actual improvements in my game, it’s going to take a bit longer than a week.”

Lendl says Murray must show more “control” on the court during his matches.

“It’s something you have to practice like everybody else,” said Lendl. “I was very pleased with the way Andy handled the final in Brisbane last week. He did not look at the box and shout at the box, he did not give up on any point, he played every point as hard as he could. I think that’s the way forward for him.”
