I am liking the Russians a lot. They beat a Canadian team that were overwhelming faves in the tournament, and the Swedes just squeaked by in their SF match up. Taking Russia all day long here.

holy shite! Russia looks nice @ PK. These boys can skate and score goals in bunches. Swedes are going down by at least 2 goals.

I think Sweden will win gold and the Canada-Finland game will be over 6.5 goals.

Id take the Russians in this one. They were down 3 or 4 goals in the championship last year, and they came back to destroy Canada.

Sweden and the over here. Sweden played a great finnish defense and still managed 45+ sog. Thinking 7-3 final swe.

sweds have not won this for a long time, they will be extra motivated. It will be good for the tournement if someone other than canada or russia wins.

But I cant bet against my fellow swedes so I think I will stay away from this game... GO SWEDEN!

I believe that RUS has a great chance to win this. Even though SWE outshot FIN in their last game most of the shots came from positions far out in the zone and there weren't enough of players crashing the net for rebounds, which were given in excess by the Finnish goaltender. If we see a similar game tonight, which is likely, the Russians will win because they will get the quality chances and capitalize on these with their tremendous skill.

                                      RUS (in regulation) +142
                                      RUS (ML) -111

                                      And finally, GO SWEDEN!!

In last years finals it was Team USA that beat Canada last year in Buffalo, not Russia.

Yes Canada was favoured by two goals in the Semi final vs Russia.

Russia was the pre tournament favourite.

                                              Russia, not Canada.

I remember seeing Canada -200 to win the tournament on a couple sites. Not to say I agree with it.

Canada had a horseshit team this year, I almost spit out my coffee when I saw -200.

Yes Canada was favoured by two goals in the Semi final vs Russia.

I remember seeing Canada -200 to win the tournament on a couple sites. Not to say I agree with it.

Canada had a horseshit team this year, I almost spit out my coffee when I saw -200.
I'm going by what I remember from 5Dimes. They definitely had Russia favoured to win the tourney before it started.

                                                        You are correct.

For whatever reason I had it in my head that because it was played in Buffalo it was the Americans that won last year. Somehow my frazzled brain got the years mixed up. I am getting old.

I blame years of marijuana use as the reason for my failing memory.

They were hindered by a lack of available stars who are currently in the NHL, but that's the same story every year for them. This team had just as good of a chance to win gold as years past, they just failed to execute, just like in 2010 and 2011.

While other countries are forced to round out the bottom of the lineup with a little less talent, Canada is always strong from top to bottom. Goaltending and a lack of "Game Breakers" in the last few years has really hurt them in key times.
