    Whats your credit score??
I'm applying for a mortgage, with 20% down to buy a two family home in CT as an investment property. The prices are really getting attractive, especially if you have cash.

At any rate, I came it at 690.

I got laid off from Citigroup in 2004. All my debt went bad. Got another good job on 2006. Paid everyone back, then started stacking paper like bricks. Came all the way back from a low 400 score to having lenders fight over my business now.

While 690 is not perfect, since I came back from the job loss in 06' and re-established credit, haven't had a late payment on any line. I don't abuse leverage anymore, always better to be liquid and have hard assets to go with the paper assets.

If anyone out here has ever been knocked down. Lost a house. Had some cards go bad. I know it can be stressful. Can seem ugly. But don't let anyone ever tell you that you can make it back. Don't ever quit.

Lot of good people looking for work right now. They can't find it. Wife gets mad, things turn sour fast. World looks ugly. You got to stay hopeful. I have a lot of friends in bad shape right now.

As for having to build your credit back up....couldn't give ya an answer...But nice job getting shit back together.

But I bought my house with less than 20% down and a 690 credit score in 06 without a hitch.

Just got another house with a low 700 score, had to put down more money because it wasn't a "first" residence, not sure if you'll run into that same thing or not.

Similar story to mine. At 690-710 as well depending on the month, tryin hard to keep it above 700 but currently have all ************ maxed while I make a big change professionally. Hoping not to be in this situation more than 6 more months, doesnt help that my wife wants a divorce. FML.

Last I checked (about a year ago).....low 800's, but a lot of you are too young (twenties) to have established high credit scores.

Pay your bills guys. Bad credit can take you down in more ways than getting turned down (or having a high interest rate) for a loan.
