Started out playing penny slots eventually graduated to nickle slots. I don't regret it for a second jenny, it lead me to you. I believe you'll be the love of my life once you realize we were meant for each other.

watched and picked the winner by name of the 1975 Kentucky derby..had no idea what gambling was but started noticing it, then schoolyard bets, poker for pennies, match mismatch parlay cards etc etc etc.

that's how jj used to get ALL his customers, you're not alone. if they were young girls he offered them candy and a ride to his place, if they were boys like you he gave you a parlay card.

It all started when my friends and I would shoot hoops for baseball cards back when we were 13 years old or so.

One of my roommates in college had a local.
I put it a few bets. Eventually got my own account...
I regret it thinking about when I started because I would blow all disposable income on sports and casino...
Now I have a bit more discipline so it isn't bad at all.

I remember my Uncles calling the bookie on Thanksgiving and shit, betting on football. Me and my cousins used to bet each other using baseball cards. Shit would get serious.
My whole family, including my Grandma, used to play poker and all kinds of penny ante type of card games.
No regrets

what kind of dad would fade their own kid after asking for advice
at least i would tell my son i thought about it and decided to go the other way, rather than letting him think i tailed

i saw an ad in the DRF for English Sports Betting and pretty much got hooked from that point onward, that was in the spring of 1995. I've not had too many stretches since then without a bet of some sort.

I was 10 years old (in 1981) and had GBP 10 saved up from my pocket money/allowance. My dad persuaded me that the favourite for the English Derby was a sure thing and to put those savings on it on the nose.
Shergar duly romped home and that was me hooked. It was a 4/6 chance (-150) so I didn't exactly win the lottery.
That race is also the source of my SBR username, although as I just watched it again I realise that the commentator never actually says "four lengths clear" which I would have swore blind he did.

Being a only child my parents took me every where they went to the track, Las Vegas.Got into Horse Racing first as a kid because i loved Del Mar and my parents would go evry summer. Also loved Vegas. My parents were big time into gambling they were succeful at it too. They would give me 40 bucks drop me off at Circus Circus so i could play all the games and they would go downstairs and gamble. It was cool growing up in the 70s because the Hacienda Hotel would not care if i hung around my dad while he played the slots or craps. The Guards would just tell me to step back just a little and it was ok if i watched.Try that today any one under 21 cant even get close to a casino anymore.

Yeah, true story but bear in mind that gambling does not have the same stigma attached to it over here and that pretty much everyone would have a bet on the Derby and Grand National.
By the time I was 12 (maybe 13) I had pretty much worked out how the UK books set their 3-way soccer odds but the lack of competition meant very high juice that there really wasn't any way to exploit the weaknesses in that 'model'.

Worst way to ever enter gambling, horses. I was also bored with the stock market. I just responded to fisheads post about 2000-2009 being the worst decade ever for stocks so it just reminds me that I should be thankful I wasnt that involved in stock market the last 12 years but I miss investing the stock market from intellectual standpoint. I love watching cnbc but gambling offshore is a rush, but its amazing what a change it was from just a while ago.
You had so many choices for books, depositing options, but everything that is happening in dc and vegas will certainly change things at least on the poker front and probably for online sportsbooks as well. I would really love to see some of these sportsbooks have some brick and mortar places in costa rica at some point.

What's the harm in letting a 10 year old gamble? Teaches them a lot about life, there's winners and losers in life just like gambling. If you're a loser then do what you need to do to be a winner.
